I think most people (including myself) are holding out just so we can compare all the new mid-sizes at once. Most people aren't trying to pay $50k to beta test a truck without at least seeing it in person first. I'm likely going to go with a ranger when the dust settles, but i'm not deciding that just yet. If toyota decides to release a pre-runner with 4wd that would make me have to think a lot harder.

Would also like to see extended cab configurations and some other trim options be revealed but it's not a dealbreaker. The ranger currently seems to be the best fit (for me) at this point when shopping across trucks.

I just want my Ranger Raptor, give me my Ranger Raptor! In the mid-size off road segment, it will be the one to have (compared to Colorado ZR2 and Tacoma TRD pro) IMO. I’m a fan of the V6 over anything hybrid and the ZR2 is underpowered. RR will be the one to beat.

That 1500 was only retail orders too though. I'd be very curious to know about how many Raptor orders are in the stock queue. For the ranger, the people really into the truck and wanting to wait for the new year are probably mostly looking for one of the following, and only one of those is even orderable now (and only via a stock order):

- Raptor (Stock Orders Only)
- 2.7 Engine (Not Orderable)
- Tremor (Not Orderable)
- PHEV / Hybrid (Not Orderable)

I'm going to order an XLT with a 2.3 for now, and look to upgrade to the PHEV if it comes. (Or the rumored Bronco PHEV) but I don't have as much patience as some, and don't have a truck at the moment.
Those retail orders are all I care about. We already know Raptors orders are locked as Stock and allocated 1 per dealer initially, so no real relevance to my comments on good news for not needing to rush into a retail order at this time or face getting locked out. I'm working on ordering XL 2wd with tow package and only interested in test driving it when/if it comes in and refusing purchase since I only really want SCab + 6' bed option. I'll likely be driving a new Frontier for at least 1 year before I can even order the actual Ranger configuration I would actually buy 🤷‍♂️

Are the order numbers on the build sheet the spot for total orders? Anyone know?

I agree with this and I have a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro now. The Ranger Raptor just looks like a massive home run, inside, outside, under the hood.

My sentiments exactly, before long a lot of the speculation over all these new offerings will be over. Options are good.

Hate to break it to you but there will never be a 4wd pre-runner. The whole idea of a pre runner is a 2WD “pre-run vehicle” for Baja races. However, I would bet you can get a TRD sport in the same extended cab configuration with 4WD.

Yeah that makes sense. I mostly just meant a 2-door, extended cab, 4WD with all that secure storage behind the seats. I can work with the underwhelming towing capacity and meh interior design if they'd release something like that.

Theres only 1500 total rangers ordered in the country? I knew the ranger was the red headed step child of Ford but I didnt think it was going to be that low. I feel like based on this forum alone, 1490 of those are Raptors and 10 are XLTs
Bloody hell, no love for the little guy heh?

Hey man, your XLT will probably be the more rare breed out in the wild!

Roger that. I was growing up and off roading in San Diego when Pre Runners came out. 1st was the Nissan Hardbody version designed in La Jolla design facility. It was Red White and Blue, lifted, roll bar with lights, big wheels and I think aftermarket push bar style front bumper. Could have had special interior with bucket seats, etc.

Next was a Toyota version out of Ivan Stewart’s design and fab facility near El Cajon, CA. Same lifted 2WD truck with accessories and painted up White, Yellow, Black similar to his Baja Racers.

details are a little fuzzy as this was back in mid-1980s or so timeframe 😎
