Looking to get the bed coated but noticed this gap. It looks like a place that water could get in and cause rust down the road.

Is this something bed coating would seal off? Need to seal before coating?

Or nothing to worry about?

Thx.

The spray in liner in mine has filled this gap nicely .

Back in the day with my 2002 Ranger there were drainage holes up front for water. Living in New England they often got filled up with leaf particles and had to be blown out with compressed air. Point is - never got rust in any part of the front of bed. Just around rear wheel wells and only because they brine the roads up there. Nothing I ever have to worry about again since I now live in the Free State of Florida ?

It's to drain water. Leave it be. Or better yet, just shoot some water from a hose into the bed and watch it flow out. You do not want the bed to be like a bathtub

Agreed. I have a spray-in bed liner and there's still a small gap. When off-roading, my bed gets extremely dusty. It's really nice to take a pressure washer to the bed and watch all the dirt and water drain out the back of the bed. The bed would be impossible to clean without it.

Thanks for the responses. There is no gap like that in my previous truck.

A big ass sheet of plastic works well, just like a pool liner.....although a bigger truck bed works better. Me and some friends had a "pool" party using this method on the strip during the weekend of the indy 500. Was a crazy weekend
