Does anyone else's Ranger do this?

Almost every single time I pull up to a complete stop and then start off again, the truck will "lurch" forward suddenly when applying the gas. I can't decide if this is because it's new and maybe the foot throttle is "tight" or maybe it's just me and I need to touch the gas as if it was a feather? I have monitored the auto trans display and it's not doing anything odd...as a matter of fact sometimes, it shifts from 1 to 3 and i can't even feel it.

Once it lurches, it runs fine. Does anyone else experience this?

Is the Auto Hill Hold engaged? You might be fighting the brakes a bit. I found it a little touchy on mine, so I turned it off. It was on by default I believe.

It was always on in my 5G Ranger to no detriment, so I left it on there.

I keep it in automatic (initial default) and like what it does. I thought it might prevent me from backing into a parallel parking spot on a steep "up" hill. Once I change from drive to reverse the hold releases.
Ford does mention this about manual mode: Note: When in manual activation mode, only use the HLA when pulling away uphill on gradients greater than 3%. If the vehicle is on the flat or on a downhill slope, an active HLA will make it difficult to pull away smoothly.

Is that the same thing as the auto hold, where when come to a stop, you can take your foot off the brake and the truck will stay in place until you apply the gas? If so, that’s disabled currently.

No Auto-hold for me, but mine "lurches" when I have it parked in the garage and I let off the brake for the first time after putting it in Drive (I back in) to drive out of the garage. The other day it lurched so much that I had the wheels slightly turned and thought I was going to hit the wall and had to get back on the brake quickly.

This seems to happen every I start it up now, but the other day was the harshest lurch so far.

Do you disengage the start/stop feature when you first start the motor? If you're not, then do it and see if you still get the lurch.

Do you have the "Hold" feature turned on? If you do, after a full stop the brakes stay engaged until you hit the gas, then they release. It sounds like you're describing this effect.
