Please post a list of parts and maybe location to purchase. I am excited for you. I got cold feet and canceled my tuner this evening. I want to see how the first wave of R/R hold up. Borla’s cat back is suppose to drop Oct/Nov so I might get that to make me feel better about myself.
I bought the Ford tuner and the TurboSmart BOV from Lethal Performance using their 10% Labor Day discount code. The discount wasn’t available for the intercooler, so I purchased it directly from COBB during their Labor Day sale. All in, I ended up saving more than $300, which should cover the cost of having my Ford dealer install the tuner. The only other modification I’ve made to the truck, if you can even call it that, was adding a K&N air filter. The Ford tuner for my 2019 Lariat FX4 Sport came with a K&N filter, but the tuner for the RR doesn’t mention the additional filter, so I picked one up. I don’t plan on changing out the exhaust system on this truck. I had the AWE cat back on my last Ranger, and it sounded great, but the valving on the RR exhaust system has tripled the cost, and since none of the testing I’ve seen has shown any increase in performance, I’m just not willing to pay that much for a better sound.

When the transmission grenades in your union built RR at 37,000 miles, you will be paying out of pocket for the replacement. Ford will 100% put the blame on the tune.
Unions have nothing to do with anything, jesus.

Luckily it was just a UAW worker that mated the engine & driveshaft to the trans.
They don’t actually build the transmissions themselves.
If they did, we’d be seeing real issues with them!!!

It must be bliss just being ignorant on how things work.

How does Ford know if a dealership or ASE mechanic installed it? Do they use their credentials to log in or do you just keep the receipt in case of a warranty claim?

Show us the conversation verbatim, please.

Ford Performance, doesn’t have anything to do with the Warranty Division, operations. There is nothing in either the factory warranty or extended warranty agreement that indicates this and it must be in writing as per federal consumer requirements.

The Ford extended warranty; is a bumper to bumper, (not including the bumpers) owner paid warranty. They can’t cancel it, unless they specifically reimburse the owner.

What you’re suggesting is; completely contrary to what Ford offers, in their extended warranty plans.👍🇺🇸
This is my understanding as well… I always thought a car warranty wasn’t something that could be “voided”. They can deny a specific claim ONLY IF they prove the repair is directly related to an aftermarket modification you’ve made, but the warranty remains intact.

And in this case, if the dealership installs an “original” Ford part, is it still considered aftermarket? The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act may have some guidance here.

The warranty is registered with Ford Performance, and they verify that the installer is either a Ford dealer or an ASE certified mechanic.

Although there is no guarantee on a warranty claim, one thing I am not going to do, if I expect to have a good relationship with my local dealership, is... buy the tune somewhere else. Goodwill goes both ways. I understand that a "stealership" can still deny a warranty claim, but I am not doing myself any favors by cutting them out of the purchase and/or install profits... then coming back and hoping they warranty any breakage… all to save a few hundred dollars on a tune for a nearly $60,000 truck.

I believe Ford Performance parts are still considered “aftermarket,” and dealerships technically install aftermarket parts all the time. Usually it’s an aftermarket lift they can charge triple for. I guess technically they can make the claim that the lift they installed put your suspension warranty at risk.

The installation of this Ford Performance calibration does not - let me repeat - DOES NOT "void" any Ford warranty, existing or purchased. This is explicitly stated in the Select Ford Performance Parts Limited Warranty: "This warranty works in conjunction with -- and does not void -- the Manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty," and "Installation of these select Ford Performance warranted performance packs and components by an authorized installer will NOT void your New Vehicle Limited Warranty."

Anyone who says different has clearly not read or understood the written statements in the FPP warranty linked above.

That said...

Warranty coverage does not have to be "voided" in order for a warranty claim to be denied. If you knowingly upload a calibration into your truck's PCM that produces power and torque levels that exceed the advertised rating of components in the drivetrain that must handle that additional power and torque, then the manufacturer has a obvious legitimate reason to deny your claim when one or more of those components fail.

I am not now, nor have I ever stated that Ford will absolutely deny a powertrain warranty claim after the tune is installed. I am saying that YOU as the consumer are assuming the risk that your claim may be denied on very legitimate grounds.

You wanna play, you may have to pay.
