When the transmission grenades in your union built RR at 37,000 miles, you will be paying out of pocket for the replacement. Ford will 100% put the blame on the tune.
100%. Certain people keep spreading this misinformation that it’s not a problem or the dealer said otherwise as though what the dealer says matters. Since when does anyone trust their stealership. I think they are excited about getting a tune and want to justify it. They are simply in denial if they think Ford will not easily deny a warranty claim if the powertain grenades with the tune after 3 years. This could easily happen. It literally says that in the warranty and Ford Performance said the exact same thing as stated in prior posts. 🤦‍♂️ Don’t believe the trolls. It’s not like this truck is lacking power. It has more than enough for daily driving. Anything beyond that is mostly for bragging rights in my opinion. Personally, it’s definitely not worth potentially grenading my transmission.

I agree with the sentiment that Ford will legally try to get out of any responsibility if all of a sudden powertrains start to go in 3 years time.
Truthfully, I think they would try to do that anyway.
That's Capitalism. It's treated much like insurance, and if you bought an extended warranty, that's exactly what it is. There are always disclaimers.

Will that stop me from getting it? No.
Generally for two reasons.
  1. I do likely think that this was probably at least semi-planned. It's a decent money grab and it clearly puts the RR on top when comparing against the Colorado and the Taco when it comes to Power & Torque. I actually think it is a great marketing strategy if we look at the upcoming 2025 model year.
  2. I personally bought the truck to have fun. Why would I limit that (within reason) now by worrying about the future. If it blows up in three years, I guess I'll deal with it then. It could also blow up in three years anyway even without the tune.
To each their own, but. That's just my thoughts.

Has anyone that's ordered the tune through Lethal Performance had it shipped out yet?

I doubt that they will be allowed to ship out before Ford does. I was surprised they were even taking pre-orders.

2.3 tune took like 6 months after announcement to actually ship

The more I am reading these comments it makes me want to wait and let the first wave of R/R run the tune and see what happens.
Well, I’ll let you know! I purchased the Ford tuner, as well as a turbo smart BOV and a COBB intercooler the day the tuner was released. I’m hearing end of September delivery on the tuner, so I should have the other parts installed by then and be ready to go! ;-)

I ordered my performance tune from Steeda over the weekend and it shipped out today.

My personal take is that if you choose to install a performance upgrade like this, where the manufacturer is clearly defining the warranty, you should be financially prepared to eat the cost of any powertrain issues that occur after 3y/36k. There's no doubt in my mind that Ford will not honor any warranty after 3y/36k if it is in anyway associated with the performance upgrade.

Look at what's going on with Toyota and the GR Corolla right now. Those cars are burning to the ground for no apparent reason, and Toyota is stating it's because the owners went more than 80 mph on a certain type of tire.

I track a Toyota GR86, a car that was literally advertised as a track car and included a free NASA track membership, and Toyota has done everything they can to deny warranty claims on un-modded GR86's... simply for using them on track.

Long story short, if you can't afford to financially absorb the loss, then you shouldn't take the risk.

Please post a list of parts and maybe location to purchase. I am excited for you. I got cold feet and canceled my tuner this evening. I want to see how the first wave of R/R hold up. Borla’s cat back is suppose to drop Oct/Nov so I might get that to make me feel better about myself.

Wasn't it Dodge that voided warranties for drag racing (cars like Hellcats) and got that info from the cars' GPS logs and onboard computer data (throttle, brake, blah blah)?
