Has anyone relocated their keyless entry keypad on a 6G yet?

I've seen threads from the previous generation as well as the Broncos that it is basically a wireless unit that is just double sided taped onto the door and can be removed and relocated.

I'd love to move it someplace less conspicuous.
Just a question. Why would anyone want the keypad when you have Ford Pass and the Fab to get in . Seeing it in 2025 makes me think of my grandmothers Mercury XR7 from the 80’s.

Ford pass requires internet connectivity and sometimes even with internet it doesn't work right. It is dependent on Ford's servers and you can't guarantee that Ford will always have their service available.

I use the keypad when i go camping or hiking. No risk of losing my keys in the woods/trails when I can just lock them in the truck and unlock the truck via the keypad when i get back. Generally you have no phone reception out there so fordpass wouldn't work. Same situation if I'm going swimming in a public place...don't need to risk leaving my keys on the beach or keeping them in my pocket and losing them in the water.

Or sometimes I will keep the only FOB on me, and my wife may need to get something out of the locked truck. She can open it without needing to come track me down when I might be a mile away in the other direction.

Yeah, I don't know. I don't but it came with the truck. I got $4321 off MSRP so I didn't really care what it was in there.

It's nice that it seems to be wireless so I'll definitely be relocating it as it's a bit of an eyesore.

Exactly why I checked the box when I ordered my pickup, I don’t necessarily like the looks of it on the door (thus why I’m relocating it), and yes it looks 1980ish, but I really like the convenience of not having to carry the fob in some situations.

I plan on putting mine in the fuel door too. For me it makes sense because I don't like bringing my keys on most of my hikes or runs. Is it really to program or do I need a dealer to program it?

I think it's technically possible to DIY but you have to buy some expensive license (not forscan, i think it's like 50$ for 1-2 days access) and do a bunch of other stuff. You may be able to find a youtube video or a bronco/f150 thread about how it works but when I read into it it seemed like a huge hassle.

I just took it to my dealer and had them do it for me. By the time I would buy the license and then spend hours doing fiddling with it, it seemed like a way better deal to just pay the shop.

I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong but the version of keypad on 2024 NA Rangers and RRs requires it to be programmed through FDRS. It cannot be paired with key cycles like previous versions.

Yep I think that's what I found as well when I looked into it. Being reminded of the name helped me find the mach-e post about DIY just incase anyone is curious.

Long story short -- just pay the dealer instead of seriously screwing up your truck.

Easy enough, I am having it dropped off at the dealer for me to pick up, and I will just have them program it and I will place it when I want.

Thanks

Relocated mine to the B pillar like the F-150. I use mine nearly every day, so I didn’t want to put it inside the fuel door, as I’d be opening and closing it multiple times per day, and it’s far more convenient on the door….for me that is.

I have a question. Is the keypad installed at the factory or at the dealership?

@AlloyPony On the 2025 it's installed by the dealership.

OK great, that means any Ranger I were to decide to buy off the lot could easily have the keypad thrown into the deal.
