Ordered a Baxter Performance;

FORD 2.7 & 3.0L ECOBOOST FS-101-BK CARTRIDGE TO SPIN-ON ADAPTER

New Ford Cartridge to Spin-On Oil Filter adapter fits 2015 and newer 2.7 EcoBoost and 3.0 liter EcoBoost engines. Provides faster oil pressure at startup by keeping the upper oil system flooded. Adapter contains full flow check valve and utilizes Schrader valve for oil evacuation when removing spin-on filter. Accepts oil filters with 22x1.5 threads. Viton Seals. Made in USA

Solves any leak down of oil that provides lubricant to the valve train so there’s no dry start up.👍🇺🇸

That is pretty …… darned expensive. I am also sure, as I read in a Bronco forum, that Ford will definitely see that as a smoking gun if you have an oil related engine failure. I wouldn’t recommend any such mod while under warranty.

But if it was anodized bright red, I think the bling factor would outweigh any rational objections about whether or not it actually works.….

BTW, how much air pressure are you supposed to apply before removing the filter? The instructions do not say. And definitely - the two pipe thread plugs and the elbow should be dry and have thread sealant on them, installing them “wet with oil” as described in the instructions won’t stop a seep.

I’ll get permission from my dealership service manager, just as I have with any modification I’ve done in the past several decades.. They approve it, it’s in there. They don't, I won’t.👍🇺🇸

As long as the truck's under warranty I'm using original equipment filters. Manufacturer will look for any excuse to not repair or replace something if they can find a reason. I just went through this with my Ram truck which is why I now drive a Ford.

I have the Baxter adapter on my Gladiator with the Pentastar. I like it a lot. It is a polarizing thing over there also.

For me, 40 PSI for about 20 seconds evacuated the oil from the filter.

Can you expand on that? Not just regarding this modification, but what that permission looks like.

Does your service manager give you a written document that not only gives you "permission" for a modification, but also commits Ford Motor Company to not void any applicable warranty.

I'm not challenging you on this. I'm genuinely curious what "permission" means in this context.

It doesn't mean anything because Dealers can't override what the manufacturers say. Ultimately, the manufacturers are the one's paying for warranty claims

That's my understanding, but it's also why I asked the question. I never presume that I know all the answers.

I‘m glad you can speak for our dealership owner and GM…………..Otherwise, you have no clue, commenting about something you're not privy to.

I won’t provide any details of the personal and private agreement but it‘s a verbal agreement between the dealership owner, the GM and myself. I can say, everything is dependent upon personal relationships.

Additionally, determined by the service manager; the unit doesn’t modify the actual functionality of the OEM filtration system, and presents no concern, due to its manufacture and construction.

Everything beyond OEM is considered a modification. Your dealership is in charge of how a warranty is handled. If they decide to permit such modifications, they take responsibility for any parts or monetary compensation within reason, not FORD. Otherwise, the dealership extends their personal warranty.

I’ve had a very long and excellent relationship with this dealership. They’ve extended their personal protection on several vehicles purchased directly from them, that were modified beyond OEM specifications. This one is no exception.🇺🇸

What he said is still valid though. Dealership talk is cheap and unless you get something written on their letterhead does not really mean anything past that moment.

Dealership GM's and techs move on and verbal promises made then and by them might not extend to new people or even a different dealership.

It's just the simple truth, regardless if you agree with it or not. If a ford representative came down & inspected the motor they would have an easy out for denial on a oil related failure. Dealerships are 3rd party companies & ultimately don't get reimbursed unless the manufacturer approves the fix. Now, if the dealer wants to eat the repair costs, that's on them & it's a completely separate conversation. Regardless, that product is trying to fix a problem that's not even there.
