At least with sports cars, the manufacturers were still on a level playing field (comparing the Camaro and Mustang). I drove a ZR2 AND a Ranger Raptor. There’s no comparison. It’s like comparing a filet mignon to a hamburger.

Maybe true, but stupid of Ford. The two dealerships by me have hundreds of F-150's and 1 or 2 Rangers.
I wonder if that is a production issue or a dealer issue?

the Toyota comparison is interesting as while they have a lot of configurations some are so rare that for all practical purposes they don’t exist.

and you can’t order a Toyota from the factory.

a lot of factors at play here I think.

But have you driven one? I drove a trailboss colorado the other day and it was complete garbage.
No, the new Colorado is the one midsize truck I haven't driven. Serious question.. what makes them junk? The engine has excellent reviews. The transmission was co-developed with Ford. The interior is the best looking in the entire segment. Why are they garbage? Are there things about the Colorado that people aren't talking about?

my problem was that it felt cheap compared to the Ranger. By comparison to the V6 Ranger, it seemed to struggle getting up to speed, it rattled a bit when going terrain, and lastly, I felt like it was a crime that the ZR2 carries the same engine as the WT.

I look at it the other way around. I think it's amazing that the WT for $36k has 430 lb/ft of torque.

Interesting about the rattling and cheap feel though. I think I need to look at one in person.

At the very least, every non-Corvette GM interior I've ever seen feels like it's got 250,000 miles on it after only 50,000. They start off pretty, but they don't hold up at all.

Ford isn't too much better, but they're better nonetheless.

man, for sure on the chevy interiors. my step mom always had corvettes when i was in jr high and high school. the interiors looked just like the interior in my 85 fiero and held up just as well.

i think chevy picked up a lot of sales with the colorado/canyon when ford left the mid size truck market and because of that, people still haven't come back in case it happens again. my dad got stuck buying colorados for company trucks and they had to have the exhaust manifold replaced yearly since the cat and manifold are one piece units. other then that, they never "broke down", just need repairs regularly. he was bummed out because prior to that, we always used rangers. 100s of thousands of miles in rangers all over texas. he is retired now but still has one extended cab 5 speed colorado as a yard truck. he never looked at the tacoma after our first two small toyota trucks (1985 1 ton toyota single cab 5 speed and a 1991 single cab 5 speed 1/4 ton) because the prices were outrageous for basic fleet vehicle use

I believe the 2026 Ranger order bank is open, as of June 24, 2025 . But I can't find a Ford website with the specifications so I can build and price. Am I wrong? I want to order one ASAP.

To answer your question, we have a nice looking trail boss on our lot with low miles. At first I was intrigued by the way it looked.... (I have had a few Colorado's in the past 06 and 07, and for the money, they were decent then)...... anyway, I got in and took it for a drive to compare. Everything is plasticky and boring. The backup camera did not work and it was loud and all over the road. I literally said to my self I would take my ranger Raptor over this 100% of the time. My Raptor is 10 times the truck that trail boss is. Not trying to rain on the parade of chevy owners.... but it is not even close in quality.

But nobody said that. Tariffs are paid by importers to the US.
But he who will be not named has said more than once that the other countries are paying to import items to the States.
I know we are the ultimate payers of the import tax (tariff)
I was being sarcastic.

Well tonight I found some '25 Rangers on a lot nearby and looked at them. They are offering good deals on them right now. They have an XL and an XLT. The XL is $1,700 less money but has features the XLT doesn't: tow hooks and locking rear diff being the main ones. They both had the towing package, but not the package that includes a trailer brake controller. I can buy the XL for around $37k. The interior is spacious and comfortable. I was surprised. I'm 6'3" and almost 230 lbs. and I felt like I had plenty of space to stretch out. Telescoping and tilting steering wheel is nice to help with that.

Only thing holding me up is the bed. 4 feet and 11.5 inches is just not going to be very useful for much. If they offered a 6' bed I'd go back tomorrow and order one.

Apparently all XLTs built in July 2025 and on are missing equipment that was formerly standard. No more power sliding rear window (in fact I think the slider goes away altogether), no more wireless charging pad, etc. A lot of things are now included in yet another $500 package called the "Convenience Package". Sigh.. the value of this little truck keeps declining every 6 months. It's sad.

I'm betting that the 2026 trucks will have even more upcharges for equipment.

I think that ship has sailed

count me in as a member of the 6' bed or die group

I remember my 1985 Toyota hilux with a 7' bed.

toyota has a 6' bed but the xtra cab is not available in the upper trim levels

and good luck finding a pre runner in California

or a limited trim without the hybrid engine

and a crew cab with a 6' bed is just too long

so after some sole searching I decided I could get everything I needed into a 5' bed

and I've already used my back seat for people more than I thought and with the fold down rear seat and rear doors, the storage is a lot more convenient

still miss my 6' bed ;)
