I finally got around to installing the signature Lux Amber DRLs today. It took me about 3 hours total, taking my time and trying very hard not to lose any screws or break anything. Unfortunately, I broke the small black plastic retaining clip for the wiring harness on the passenger side. I’m hoping it doesn't wiggle loose over time, but we’ll see.

The look is amazing and functions exactly like the OEM DRL. This is how the RR should have come from the factory IMO.

Nice work, dude! This truck is a blast to drive. Your board swap looks fantastic, and Amber DRL should’ve been #3, right after 1) Widebody and 2) Live Valve. Any tips before I tackle mine?
Thank you! Make sure you open up the fender liner before removing the screws. If they do fall out, they will fall on the ground, and you can retrieve them.

Be patient with the black retaining clips on the wiring harness. Pinch the sides, and it should pop out easily.

Wear a headlamp so you can actually see what you’re looking at.

Good luck!

I lost/ broke both black retaining clips. The connector is pretty sung, so I doubt it would disconnect over time. Curious to hear what others think....

How were you trying to unclip the retaining clip so that it broke? Asking so I don’t do the same.

They look great!

Thank you. I was pinching it together with my fingers, semi-blind, and crushed the first one, removing only one side at a time. On the driver's side, I was able to pinch both outside corners with my fingers, and it came out easily. Getting the clips to line up before applying pressure when you re-install is key to not destroying the clip.

I jumped the truck right after install to see if it would pop off, and we are good. I think it will hold up for a while, but if it fails, I’ll know where to go troubleshoot.

I did this install a couple of weeks ago and was able to do it without breaking either clip. Another member on this forum recommended a shop pick to unclip the connector. I picked up a 4 pack of mini picks at Harbor Freight for like $3. It came with a couple different angled picks but the 90 degree was the most useful. After you unscrew the module from the headlight, you can rotate it to see the two square holes on the side of the connector. Use the pick to press in those two holes and gently pull the connector and it will come apart easily.

This is good advice. I hope people see it!

I did this tonight with the help of my cousin, the flexible extension, and 1/4 ratcheting wrench. The second person makes a huge difference. By pulling the fender liners to the side and not taking the wheels off we were able to complete both in a hour and a half. I will not say it was easy by any means but it wasn’t as bad as I originally anticipated. Well worth the effort. Anyone looking to do it and western Pennsylvania I will gladly lend a hand.
