Loud popping sound while reversing (ISSUE SOLVED)

I have been intermittently getting a single loud popping sound from under the truck in the front while slowly reversing (after 1-2 wheel revolutions). Can happen both in 2H or 4A. I can sometimes repeat it if I step hard on the brake while reversing.
Crawled underneath and found no loose bolt.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
(The truck is bone stock with 83,000 miles)

I'd say check the boots over the front axles for tears. And check the joints of the axles, you might have one gone bad.

Any chance the wheel is rubbing the liner? That happens more often in reverse and it can sound like popping.

The sound is rather metallic, for the lack of better words. It seems to come from down below my foot (right side of the truck)

Some people mentioned IWE (Integrated Wheel Ends) System. Do our trucks have this? Never heard of it before.

What would be the easiest way to check the axle joints?

Put the front end on jackstands, manually rotate the tire. Might hear clicking in the joint.

Yesterday morning, I took both skid plates out. Drive around for 30 minutes. Tested for the noise, no popping noise at all. Put the skid plates back on with grease on all the contact points. Went for errand for the day, no noise when backing up. Came back home after heavy rain, backing up into my garage and hear the same popping noise a couple of times but less pronounced.
I am stumped.

I had an old car, years ago with a cracked motor mount that made a popping noise under similar conditions.

my (when new) 2017 nissan titan would make really odd noise, like a spinning coin makes on a table when i was turning right. after a few month, nissan found out it was the factory had cross threaded the passenger side motor mount and it was not fully seated so the washer would make that ringing spinning noise. so i would say you might have some off little thing that is not properly tightened down.

Don't forget to check you front driveshaft joint. And all of them.

Updates:
- Raised the front end, roll the front wheels and found no noise or vibration from driveshafts. Tried to shake the wheels and all seems to be tight and solid
- Mock around with skid plates, grease the bolts and re-tighten them.
Now I still have the popping noise but ONLY when driving in wet/rainy conditions. It hasn’t been raining for a week and the popping noise seems to disappear.
Any thoughts?

ISSUE SOLVED!!

It turns out to be a loose camber bolt in the right lower control arm bushing. I guess my previous alignment guy didn’t torque it properly.
Anyway thanks for all the inputs guys!
