From what I understand, those swing out boxes attach to mounting holes on the side of the small wall where the tailgate slots into.

If that's correct, there shouldn't be any mounting issues. There's even potential they'd work with the entire molle panel installed depending on how far they sit off the bed sidewall when stowed.

Here you can see the seam, where the two pieces connect. There is a backing plate which has one of the two bottom mounting points. The entire backing plate and mounting point are red in the below picture.

You could install the front part, and install the backing plate attached only to the front half.

You can find details on what these parts look like here:

The above is on page 4 here: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0...0_1021_1022-Bed_MOLLE_Panels.pdf?v=1753242206

As for measurements, I don't want to give you wrong info or false confidence that things will fit. The panels sit really tight to the side wall. About 1"or so off of it. You can use my images earlier in this thread for reference as to where the seam lines up with the wheel well and gauge that based on where your boxes land when in their stowed configuration.

You can use the light cutouts for reference as well, but ultimately you'll need to do your own due diligence to have adequate confidence this is something that will work. There's definitely potential.
Thanks for your help with this! I wasn't at my computer today.

@Fawnbuster, I just got back from SEMA. I'll pull a tape or pull up the CAD tomorrow to get you some measurements. If they would go behind the boxes, that would be a cool setup.

I had someone inquire about any compatibility issues with my BAK Revolver X4S and the AAL MOLLE panels.

No compatibility issues.

Figured I'd post that here along with photos of the install in case it helps anyone else!

I want to do the same with my tool roll. What strap are you using?

Was using this in that photo:

And I've since moved to using this as it's a bit quicker and more convenient.

Hmmm. What if we made a small box that attached to the panel with a sealing lid. We could occupy the space below the outlets and not exceed the space created by the wheel well. That would keep the tool rolls secure and clean/dry and still provide access to the plug(s).

This would be perfect. That is something I would buy.

I prefer just the tool roll as I often strap tools right to the outside if they're of frequent use, and often will pull out my socket wrench (and fancy copper pipe extension when I need more leverage) from the center of the roll without removing the roll itself.

However, I may still be interested in a mountable box for other things such as straps, and if you were to come out with some molle nuts in both M6 and M8 varieties, maybe with a few screw points on the face to provide some positioning options, that would be of interest. The ones I can find online are stupid expensive so I currently make my own out of 1" by 1/8" aluminum flat bar.

And to add to that, I often keep my milwaukee drill / driver in the bed. Having a way to hang that with a quick strap to secure laterally would be high up on my wish list of things. I don't like leaving things loose but I often find I use my driver a lot for my leveling legs on my trailer and such, so need to keep it accessible.

Double plus for a way to mount a milwaukee charger and/or battery (18v)! It'd be nice to have the charger hung on the molle panel and charge a battery while on the go. Was going to do something myself but your tooling and experience would provide something much better than I could come up with.

Exactly like that! There are a few different types of chargers for Milwaukee. I have this one, and might have others. Ideally whatever you come up with would be compatible with as many of these variations as possible.

ie: here is a fast charger variant which looks very similar.

We're now a "Milwaukee Shop" internally, so we have a ton of batteries and chargers. I think we could do a different design on the Milwaukee chargers than what we have for DeWalt. I'm not sure if they would work with multiple charger models, though.

It would be cool to be able to mount the charger inside the box we're talking about now to keep the water out of the charger.

Agreed, that would be nice as long as the design is as slim as possible. Maybe even have a door that hinges from the top but goes across the top and down the front, so when open it provides better access to what is inside.

or front-bottom w/ hinge on bottom so gravity holds the door out of the way.

These chargers have wall hanger key-holes. Not sure how realistic this is, but could have an interchangeable mounting plate with stand offs or holes for screw in stand-offs spaced appropriately so they can be configured to the different charger key-hole patterns.

Then just have a well placed L bracket that gets screwed in against the charger to lock it in place, maybe even with a thumb screw like on your mounting points you sell for your seat deletes and such..

Could even have these L brackets hit it from multiple sides to help secure it in place so any stress placed on the keyholes is limited. Only one would be needed to keep the keyholes engaged.

Just thinking of ways to make this modular.

i wonder, for people who don't have the bed plugs, maybe a box could be built that fit in that area and gave a person a spot for straps and small items like that

This would be useful for folks with the bed plugs as well, just on the passenger side! If it's a larger box, a shelf similar in design to the dividers I've seen being worked on for the bed slider / drawers would be cool.

I'd probably buy something like this for the passenger side, once I get my bed slide. I currently strap my fridge to the molle panels on the passenger side of the bed to keep it from sliding around when on the move.

Though, clearance with bed slide and other things may be an issue. Could do a door like done on the seat deletes so it can be removed rather than use a hinge that will open into things. Ideally the Milwaukee tire inflator would fit inside this box. I still have to pick up the strap / mount for it. I'm not sure exactly where I want to put it so I'm waiting on the bed slides first.
