Please share your experience with tonneau covers.
Which one holds water outside? A few drops is okay, but not liters ow water.

I have RealTruck roller cover at the moment, but they are just advertizing it wrong - it leaks lots of water, local shop who sold it to me has tried to improve it but without much success. They even do not answer to my messages, so need to replace it with something of better quality.

The Leer 650 in my opinion is the best one out there for a folding hard cover. Two plus items is NO drain tubes, and pinch locks rather than cables anyone can get in with a coat hanger. I have had the Bak flip, its ok, but the Leer 650 is way better.

I agree with danmoochie's post for the Leer tonneau covers for NOT allowing water to enter the bed and without drain tubes. Maybe just a few drops at the car wash with pressure. Below is my post from earlier this year and my experience with Leer. Also, I would buy again in a heart beat. Great cover once installed, no issues at all and virtually water tight for the last 9 months. I'm sure had I known more about tonneau installs, it would have went much faster.

I installed the 3-panel from Leer. However there is absolutely no bragging rights on their chintzy instruction pamphlet it comes with. From a top shelf company like Leer, that's been around for decades, this is really unacceptable and I let them know (for what that's worth).
What should have been just a couple hour install, ended up taking me about 6 hours to get everything functioning perfect. I found an install video for the HF350M (virtually the same as the 4-panel I'm sure), and that got me pretty close, watching different parts over and over, finally got things figured out (my first tonneau install ever). I watched several other videos from other YouTubers, on installs from other tonneau cover manufacturers and that also shed some light.

I have the "RealTruck BAK Revolver X4s Hard Rolling Truck Bed Tonneau Cover" and it has worked very well for me. It is not completely water tight, and when it goes through the car wash there are some drops that get inside. But even during heavy rain it has kept most of the water out. Installation was relatively easy and straightforward, even doing it alone. The one thing that I notice is that in terms of dust, there is a lot that gets inside, but I think it is more from the gaps between the tailgate and the bed than anything else.

My pace edwards ultragroove is good. A tonneau cover on these trucks is only as good as the bed and tailgate, which are horrendous designs from a weatherproofing perspective.
So true. The cover will shed water, but the 'stake pockets' will allow that water to enter the bed. And it's hard to get a good seal at the tailgate.

Thanks, and agree with you as well, I got the 650 but the instructions were horrible. I went to their website and viewed the instruction video then went online and watched a few others. My install went fast and the only obstacle was them not showing you had to remove the plastic plugs on the bed sides in a few areas to finish the job. But it fits like a glove, no water issues, and I love the squeeze open rather than the dangling wires.

Bit of silicone to seal up the stake pockets and I've had almost zero water encroachment with my SyneticUSA AR-Pro retractable. Just a few drops at the corners of the tailgate, even in our PNW atmospheric rivers. I'd expect the tailgate lip seal will wear over time, but for now it seems to pool and drain through the clamp pockets. Front/rear drain tubes.

Surprisingly solid construction and was about a third the price of the Retrax or EGR options.

Exactly Dan, and the squeeze/pinch openers are the bomb, for not having someone with a coat hanger skinny it under the seal and just pull the wire to have access to the goodies in your bed. One of the major reasons I went with Leer, besides their long standing reputation and the installation "manual" not withstanding... LOL

Look what I found when looking up the Leer 650. Sent an inquiry regarding future fittament

Look what I found when looking up the Leer 650. Expensive and not available for Raptor yet, but an interesting design.

I was in search of a good tonneau covers as well. After thinking through my true needs, I landed on this truck box from Tractor Supply (it is made by Dee Zee). It is 46.5" wide, so it sits well at the front of the bed or by the tailgate. It seems like a good alternative to a cover, and is more waterproof as well.

I just got it yesterday, so I still need to get two turnbuckles to secure it in the bed.

Two turnbuckles, a length of chain and a padlock. Depending on your neighborhood, turnbuckles sometimes loosen themselves up between 2-3AM.

I ran a truck box with/without a canopy on my old Sierra. 30 seconds to have it out and in the garage when I needed the full bed.

Also, this is probably the worst thread to ask about it, but I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in your front bulkhead railcap. DIY solution or did you find a product out there?

Thanks. That front rail is covered in vinyl wrap that I purchased from Amazon. I bought a roll of it, then cut to size and applied.
