This forum has received several extended warranty emails from "Zach" at Granger Ford. I had a question about a two-year full extended warranty regarding does it kick in after the 3-year warranty expires. Emailed Zach. Never responded to me. Went to the Granger dealer website. No employee named Zach I could find. Found several employees in Internet sales but not one of them listed as handling online extended warranties. I want to talk to someone before doing the online credit card into the Ethernet. Maybe someone here has bought their extended warranty from Granger. Seems to be some on the F150 forum. But you can try this. Print off Granger's pricing. Go to your Ford dealer, tell them what you want, and ask them to match Granger. If not, say adios, then call Granger and ask for Zach.
fwiw, I'm pretty sure Zach is the owner of Granger Ford and Granger Motors (and the owner isn't listed on the "meet the staff" page

This is a very good point.
That's not how that works. If you get a 5 year/100k ford protect plan at the end of the factory warranty, you don't end with 8 years of coverage, you get 2 additional years.

When will my Extended Service Plan begin and end?
If you purchase a Ford Protect Extended Service plan, your coverage begins from your vehicle’s original in-service date and mileage. This is the date and mileage when a dealer first sold the vehicle as new. Coverage expires at the earlier of the number of months purchased or the number of miles purchased.

For example: Your vehicle’s warranty start date is July 1, 2022 and the odometer reads 10,000 miles. You purchase a 5-Year / 100,000-Mile Premium Care plan on November 1, 2022. Your coverage starts on July 1, 2022 and expires on June 30, 2027 or when your odometer reads 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

So some Bronco owners are experiencing a bracket failure that supports the front differential. The repair is covered under the 36k/3yr warranty. The part listed in the Ford TSB for the repair can be as high as $1,500.00; and get this, according to one Ford tech the part is NOT covered with the Ford Premium Care.

Not saying the Ranger 6G will experience this bracket cracking and diff mount breaking, but there could be frame similarities. So, for those that use 4Lo frequently, and will eventually be outside the 36k/3yr warranty, and possibly have paid for an extended warranty, would you be pissed-off having potentially experienced this problem and being denied coverage? (rhetorical)

It's the what's not covered with these extended warranties that can be a let-down.

How the hell can this not be covered? What is Ford’s theory?

Who knows.

Maybe since those diff mount cracks didn't happen while this guy was testing, it's now considered abuse. 🤣

Kind of like reading in the JL Wrangler forum where one dealer denied a warranty coverage because the Jeep owner went off road. 🤣

Good to know. Thanks. Apparently Zach at least signed off on the solicitations but doesn't personally respond to a question about them from a potential customer or pass the email to an employee to answer. Still did not find an identified employee who handles questions about extended warranty. At this point, no longer interested.

Truth was that the owner didn't have enough rubber duckies on his dash, thereby voiding Jeep warranties.

Someone will post a picture of their duck collection sitting on the dash of their Ranger 6G. Wait for it.

California, and I think Florida, don't allow out of state insurance companies to do business there. You'll have to fine someone there.

Another thing to consider, especially with an aftermarket warranty, is what labor rate they will cover. I've been out of the business for a very long time but the biggest issue we had with these warranties was when the warranty company would cover let's say $80/hour but where the person actually lived, the rates were well over $100-$150/hr. So right off the bat, if you had some crazy electrical or drivability issue that we spent half a day working on, you had to hit the customer for the difference. Not a huge amount of cash, generally, but when the same thing happened with the part pricing, on a bigger ticket item, the "full coverage" warranty was anything but. Naturally, the customer always blamed the dealership or repair facility, when it was actually the fact that their warranty company was based in the middle of Utah but they lived in a much higher cost of living area, like New Jersey or close to New York City.

Before you buy an ESP from anyone, read this article from the FTC. It pertains to Car Shield, but probably applies to all ESPs.

After mkt warranties have never and will never be as reliable or as good of an option as a factory based warranty.

Granger Ford and a couple others(Flood esp, Zoeller Ford, etc) truly offer the best pricing at $25 over dealer cost. Premium care is the only plan to buy unless you have a Ltd/base optioned vehicle such as a xl model, as it covers over 1000 components.

Rental car enhancement and light coverage are smart adds. The base $60 rental coverage often won't cover a similar vehicle to what your driving, which can be killer on a trip. Also first day rental is a must. Without it you do not get a rental car unless your vehicle is in the shop 2 or more days. Especially on a trip, not having a vehicle immediately can be killer.

Also, without light coverage your headlamps, tail lamps etc are not covered. As many models now have encased led light assemblies abd no longer have bulbs to replace the cost of replacing the light assembly can be very expensive. A tail lamp assembly on a ranger raptor is well over $2000 installed, as example.

I always add the rental car and light coverage enhancements to mine.

We haf a Ford dealership in my family for over 95 yrs so I grew up in and around the business. After mkt warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on, but factory backed warranties can be if bought at a decent price like grainger and a few others offer. Usually dealers mark these up upwards of several thousands dollars, that makes them cost prohibitive, but at a good price, they can be life savers long term.
Only problem with Granger Ford ESP is you can't get it in California

My Ford based extended warranty specifically says "OEM".
