i guess the cost of the battery is also more since the cca are? i understand the desire to do this if you are running extra stuff but for the normal xl/stx guys that are not running tons of accessories or a huge system, this is probably not something we need

What aftermarket tray did yiu go with? Every one I've seen causes issues with the washer fill tube.

I have historically always bought Optima Yellow tops whenever a need arose to replace a battery.
Cars, Trucks, Tractors, Forklifts etc etc.
If I could get an AGM I would, and pretty much always shoot for the yellow top Optima.

The DH7 is the one Autozone is calling out for the Rangers.

Interstate Batteries 94R AGM is just $180 at Costco and good for 850 CCAs.

This is a great battery. I’m all in on the Odyssey Battery camp, but if I weren’t I’d be buying optima’s.

I did replace my oem ford battery with an odyssey because ford had some bad batteries a few years ago (at least in Bronco sports; not sure of other models) and I’ve been disappointed with interstates, so for peace of mind in extreme winter temps I just upgraded it.

I did have an odyssey in my old 99-04 gen Mustang and I didn't feel it was worth the cost as it crapped out sooner than I expected and wasn't used hard at all, maybe I had the wrong trickle charger though, I won't buy another odyssey based on that experience

ALL 4 of my trucks have Odessy batteries in them. A bit more expensive, but a new Motorcraft quit me after 11 months on a daily driver. NO MORE !!!!

15 years later and dozens of yellow tops since, and never had another optima needing warranted since Changing to the Yellow top series.

Not for that particular application or current Rangers, looks like they have lines like extreme and performance but not tier choices like good better best. It's a single sample size for me but I remember paying a sizable premium for the odyssey battery for the best one of my 3 99-04 Mustangs and it just did not perform as I hoped it would. Now I did get it through Amazon after price shopping and maybe I just got a bad example but I will not forget that I was let down thinking, Oh yeah this might last 10 years...it did not last

my son and i have a yellow top from 2011 still starting our little 318i bmw.

in my former life, we had a ton of boats that would go through hell and had a lot of electronics.

Normal marine batteries would fail frequently, but not the optima AGMs

i was under the hood yesterday and i thought of this thread while i was hooking up the tender so i could play around in forscan some more.

i couldn't see the battery info sticker on the battery because of the cover but my battery looks just like the one in the first post, cover, wires, battery, the whole deal and when i was in forscan, i noticed my truck is set to agm already.

so i wonder if some stx/xl trucks come with the agm battery already? someday i will find out when i have to replace it but for now, is there a visual difference between the regular ol lead acid and the agm?
