I traded in my XLT this week. It's been a great truck, but I decided I didn't really need a truck with a recent career change. I also wanted to shift my own gears again. You can guess my choice based on the picture. I will have a few items in the classifieds soon: Folding headrests, maybe my Ford hitch cover (+5HP), and if someone wants to pick it up, I can give them my fancy 2x6 bed divider.

What did you get? Is it a car? Thr hvac pic is a car so that is the reason i ask.

I was wondering if those were not the schisms and were supposed to be undef the bed caps to prevent them from getting deformed like they are now.

besides the body builder layout book I posted above(upfitter guide, available to all upfitters for free. and the general public) and the owners manual stating do not mount to the bed rail caps..... It literally says it on the stake pocket covers. ford made it dipshitiodit proof, and they still fucked it up. lol buddy put the clamps right over them by the looks of it. lol 100% go back and make them install it correctly. like I said dont leave it too long, or they will say too bad. and the manufacturer can and will void any warranty issue because of an incorrect install. document everything. follow up in person conversion at the upfitter, with an email summarizing the convo. or if legal in your area, record the phone call of you describing the isusue and requesting it be fixed(canada is single party consent for example, a private individual can record their calls, and do not seen to tell thr other party, as for example I am the consenting party to the recording of my call. however busniess's must tell you they are recording calls by law)

ShadowDragon24 is correct that the shims go under the rail cap. For my SE install the shims slid under the rail cap to the front and back of the stake cover hole (not actually occupying the hole, if that makes sense).

Also I think the torque is important (or they would not have mentioned it in the instructions). I have tightened my clamps 3 times now and they needed tightening each time.

I was pretty sure it was installed wrong last night.

Spoke with the company I had install it yesterday.
Have an appointment to have it corrected next Monday.

I am pretty sure both of these are supposed to be under the center section.
That one on the outside is conflicting with the door.

Got imoroved milage after my pro cal tune installed. Went from 16.8 to 18.4 on my commute.

My S&B air filter came today and installed it. Curious to see if it picks up a MPG or not. If it makes any better whoosh noises then it will still be worth it. Looks better made than the factory Ford one anyway. Better structured.

Was it a worthy purchase?

My son called and told us he traded his 2024 stx 4x4 for a 2026 lariat 4x4 with the 2.7. He said the engine makes an amazing difference in how smooth the truck is. He said its like a whole different model of truck.

He also is very happy to have push button start again and heated seats/steering wheels. He even has the secret glove box.

And i cannot load any of the pictures he sent. I dont know why i can load pics i took with my own phone but not ones he sent me.

I agree those features mentioned are worth every penny of the cost difference in those trim levels.

if I can’t get something to load I screenshot the pic and save it to my photos . It should upload fine from your photos on your phone .

I had a similar situation with pics sent to my phone. I couldntsend them from a text to another person via whatsap. I had to download the pictures from the text first. Then I was able to share them on whatsap.
