AlphaRex Nova Headlights Worth it?

I need to replace my headlights and was looking at the price of new OEM ones and came across the AlphaRex NOVA Ultra-Black. They look pretty sweet and can be switched between white and amber DRL and are quite a bit cheaper than OEM. Trade off is they are not self leveling. I don’t really tow or do much off-roading. Currently showing for preorder. Anyone have any thoughts on these that have looked at them and if they are worth it over OEM and losing the self leveling feature?

I recently installed the Nova Ultra Black headlights in my XLT. Based on looks and lighting performance over the stock LED reflectors of the XLT, very worth it! I can’t speak to the self leveling as my truck didn’t have that anyway. I was also happy to change my DRL to amber to match my auxiliary lights. If you have any other questions on them let me know, and if you decide to buy I can give you some tips on install.

Install was a little tough. Having wider fender flares didn’t help as I had to remove those and then also partially loosen the stock ones. Loosening the front bumper takes some time, 6 bolts that are in a tight spot in the fender. And the grille takes a decent amount of time to remove and making sure you don’t break any of the clips holding it in. I did get it done in a day though so not the end of the world, and very happy I did it.

If you use a flat plastic trim tool, you can pop the grill off in about 10 mins. Check out my thread where i change my grill to a raptor looking grill to see where the clips are that can break on you.

But a flat trim tool will pop them right off.

I used a 90° oring pick, and once you let the 2 bolts on the top go, you can get your hand down behind the grill and I ised the pick to do the same, after I broke my plastic trim tool earlier. lol
