So I had the pillar wire short recall done and that involves reprogramming the BCM

low and behold a few days later I try my keyless entry pad and nothing. Red light flashes but doors don’t open. Doors don’t lock.

I call my service adviser and she says the BCM shouldn’t be the issue maybe the battery. A little goggle search and I find yeah, likely it is the BCM.

if they want to give me a new battery under warranty, fine,

Anyone else have this issue?

And just be forewarned you might want to check the functioning of your keyless pad before snd after the BCM firmware update.

When they flashed my BCM the TPMS wouldn't connect, tech had to play around with it for a bit, but eventually it saw them. I've read that the TPMS not being recognized is to be expected and sorts it's self out after a key cycle.
Since both TPS and keypad are wireless connections, the issues may be related.

Just curious, Is that a 2025?
My 2024 key pad is drivers door mounted.
As per dealer, my A Pillar recall is on hold until Ford sorts things out.

I had a BCM update a few weeks ago for the rear wheel speed sensor.
I've never used the keypad; I'll have to check if it works.
Maybe updating the BCM loses the stored door codes?

I have seen module updates disable features. Sometimes they make a configuration change that disables something it shouldn't.

all the ranger6g use a wireless keypad that can be mounted anywhere. I believe in 24 it could be ordered from the factory. 25 was dealer installed. The default is the drivers door but you could ask for pillar or in my gas door.

for some reason the keypad is different for 25+

a search on BCM update and keypad stops working pulls up some maverick customers experiencing this issue.

I assume it is either keypad data erased or disabled during the update.

i had it fixed by the dealer this morning so I’m back in business. I asked the service manager what they did and she said, in nice bit of honesty, “I don’t know, I just asked them to fix it. Probably just reprogrammed.”

I had made a point of giving her the card with the serial number and factory code.

Normally I would wait to let some one else figure out these decals, but my 10k inspection was due and I have four recalls stacked up so I threw the dice.

‘so a heads up for those with keypads to double check this after the pillar wiring recall

Thanks for the answer. First one I have seen on the gas tank cover but then I usually not looking for them either.
Mine was factory on the door.
I will check it when the update and wiring recall is complete.

Confirmed, BCM update on '24 doesn't affect door codes.

But now I got to wondering.
Why have two numbers on each pad?
If my code is 1 3 5 7 9, it's the same keystrokes as 2 4 6 8 0.
So, assuming repeating numbers are valid, instead of 100,000 combos, it's half that, but still a lot of possibilities.

I am guessing it is easier to come up with a number that you can remember. Sort of like the letters on on numeric phone keys. 🔑

glad your keypad did not get disabled.

imagine if they know you have one they can make sure it works. Since mine was hidden away, and I went to a dealer that is closer than the one I bought the truck from. I can understand how it happened to me.

I just checked mine and it still works. None of the Forscan changes I made to the BCM were erased after the update. Strange. Maybe, they didn't actually do the update and just said they did. All the recalls are now gone showing everything is completed.

I would think it would be a pretty big key pad to do 0-9.
I probably wouldn't have one if it wasn't already part of the package.

If my math is correct, having 5 numbers available (1-5) with 5 pads labeled 1- 5, there would be only 3,125 combinations, not 50k with 10 numbers and pads labeled 1-2 3-4 5-6 7-8 9-0.

It depends on when the vehicle synced up with the cloud. Eventually, the FORScan changes you make get updated on Ford's side and become your new permanent ab data. If the module you make changes to gets updated before the vehicle syncs, then it will revert the changes you make. However, if the module gets update after the sync, the changes you made will be retained.

Just as an aside, someone mentioned a new battery for the keypad, but it is not replaceable. When the battery dies you need a new keypad.
