Lincoln T6 Bronco-based SUV Coming in '29

I would take a look at this if they keep the current T6 interior layout that the Ranger and Everest share. Potential turnoffs could be if they screen-ify it and give it a squircle steering wheel. That would be an automatic no-go from me.

At that point, I guess the question becomes this or a Bronco Filson for those looking upmarket.

The pictures (concept obviously at this point) are of a badge swapped Ford Everest. So basically a Land Cruiser/GX550 competitor. Based on the Ranger platform.

Same play with the Lexus LX vs the real Toyota LandCruiser, we don't get the actual LandCruiser anymore post 2021, we only get the LandCruiser Prado, which is already a rebadged 4Runner. If you want the real LandCruiser you have to get the Lexus LX starting at like $95k.

I think moving units at Lincoln Branding/Pricing is going to be a hard sell for Ford. I think they would need to heavily undercut the Land Cruiser in order to actually sway buyers.

I'm not so sure. Lexus runs the EXACT same scam with the LX (the real LC overseas) and does ok.

The question is does Ford have the same brand cachet to pull it off? If not, are there enough informed Ford buyers with deep enough pockets to say, yeah, I'll take the Lincoln because I know it's an Everest?

Also, to take a slight tangent, this is most clearly GX550 competitor if the pricing rumors are true, which is fine.

And now it clicked... Prada vs Everest in their US cardigan guises. Well played, Ford. Everest numbers are crushing Prada in Australia; why not take advantage back home? I'm still pissed there is no Ford version news, but it's a brilliant, and bold, marketing move.

Maybe . I know 3 new Landcruiser owners who are already looking to trade them off due to the anemic powertrain yet poor gas mileage...

I just don't understand what people see in the 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Tacoma, and Tundra. I see no value in them.

Meanwhile, their car/CUV options are quite good in my opinion.

It's a Lincoln. It's customers will expect the latest tech, upgraded luxury, and unique features.
Yes, it better have multiple screens and other newer design elements.

I think that's true for 'traditional' Lincoln customers, yes. The fact that they're building it on the T6 platform suggests they have a wholly new target market in mind, however. My assumption is Ford is chasing the GX550 here, which is not particularly 'luxurified' inside.

Obviously, we don't know much yet, but my bet is Ford might be finally realizing that what used to be the 'traditional' Lincoln buyer simply won't exist going forward. Good, bad, or indifferent, I don't know anyone other than Boomers and Early GenX that are currently buying Lincoln products.

Edit: I'm not familiar with the platform engineering, but if they remove the SRA and go 4-corner independent suspension a la the Navigator/Expedition, you might be onto something. I hope they don't do this FWIW.

That just looks like a Churched up Everest, not bad at all. I wish Ford would just bring the Everest to the US. I came from a 4Runner went to a FX4 Ranger. I think it could dig into the 4Runner market in the US if Ford did bring it to the US. I don’t think it would hurt the Bronco market much. People that want a Bronco won’t compare it to an Everest. It’s like a Wrangler buyer is not looking at any of the Cherokee or Wagoneer’s models to compare it to.

This new Lincoln is going to be Bronco based (not Everest). It won't look anything like the Everest rendering shown in the article.
