Hey guys, would appreciate if anyone could weigh in. Only had the truck 4 weeks and have put 1,000 miles on. When I first bought it, I put a BOV on for a whole day before my wife got annoyed by it and I took it off lol. It was quite loud even with the cabin with the windows up.

Anyway, skip ahead 4 weeks / 1k miles later and today I noticed a strange whine here and there on my commute home. I turned the air vents and radio down and listened. Lo and behold, it sounded like a super quiet version of my BOV "whoosh" noise when letting off of the accelerator... interesting, I don't remember it doing that the past few weeks, but granted I also wasnt listening for it.

Just curious if that is normal? I can't seem to replicate it when parked which is odd - only does it when going around 40-50 MPH and letting off the gas. Coincides with turbo burst. You can almost not hear it but it's definitely there - a slight whine/whoosh sound when the turbo pressure released back into the air intake it seems.

I checked the BOV location and everything is tight. Can't see any loose hoses or any cracks. Just curious if this is normal? Thanks all...

Got it on video! Harder to hear on video than in person but here it is back to back.

The noise happens immediately after the turbo boost drops

Does this sound normal guys?

That may be a small squeak from the recirc valve, normal. When I let off the gas on my 3.5L work truck from a quick acceleration it makes the same sound, a bit louder and noticeable when the windows are down.

Thanks for the reassurance! I'm hoping it's that too.

Definitely turbo related too as I realized no boost is produced while parked, which explains why I couldn't replicate it.

I'm thinking you're right but would love for someone else with a 2.7 Ranger to weigh in and confirm

I want a turbo woosh noise. I’m kinda jealous😁
LOL. It's actually funny because after selling my BOV here, I thought about buying the adjustable version to make it but much quieter.

Well be careful what you wish for! The sound doesn't bother me - it just seems weird that it appeared out of nowhere!

For sure. Double checked and all is tight and correct.

I also took the Bov off 4 weeks ago and the noise seems to have just started up...

How were you able to get that screen?

It's under the Off-Road menu. Wish they'd allow it to stay there all the time!

That noise is DEFINITELY the right side turbo's centrifugal torque converter nut. Sounds like its coming loose.

Make sure that the small hose is properly connected between the bov and the air intake. I've heard of a similar case a while back in this forum and that was the issue.

What makes you say that? Is this on the exterior and something I can tighten myself? Thanks for weighing in!
