True but, your driving habits won't be recorded and sold to insurers and raise your rates. Are you an advocate of the 4th amendment violating ALPR's too ?
You can agree or disagree with the vehicle tech, but unless the government is tracking you this isn't a Constitutional issue.

That's the rub, the ALPR companies won't guarantee FEDS don't have access. Are you one of the few that trust governments in general ?

How can you expect a guarantee? If they get a court order compelling them to provide information, you expect them to defy that?

Either way, your argument there is with the government. That was my point.

No authority has the right to track without a warrant and/or consent.

not concerned about Santa, NORAD’s keeping tabs on him…

Now Flock, that’s another story

All the local government or insurance company has to do is look at the difference between the timestamps from two different cameras to know if you’re speeding.

They can easily automate the tickets or insurance rate increases

To reply to the tin foil hat comments above:
We live in a time where thieves can use a relay device outside your door and manipulate your fob hanging up inside to start your car and take it away. I think I would be foolish to assume that the code running the connected vehicle system does not include a hidden kill switch which would be intended for law enforcement. I'm not worried about the police or government here. Intertwined private companies are involved here. I may not have anything to hide about were I go and what I do. But private companies that have information to stop my truck does bother me, particularly if this information is stolen or sold to shady data brokers. I think it is a matter time before criminal gangs use this type of connectivity to target and stop cars so they can do what they want to do.

Would your omnipotent space wizard be down with you acting very un-christlike by calling people names?

Except Jesus!
You're referring to Jesus Christ as an omnipotent space wizard ? He died for your sins, you ought to repent but, you do you.

I find this thread quite entertaining… I remember when the EDR’s were first discovered, and a lot of folks thought the black box was listening to conversations, tracking their GPS, and knowing what they were doing as they were driving.
None of it was true.
National news even aired a story (CNN), yeah, I know.
How long until we find out the truth on this new technical scare?
The EDR’s were clueless, until the crash.

...but still uses smartphones, credit cards, internet, and all that other stuff that tracks you.
“I won’t fight this battle because it won’t win the war alone” is a terrible philosophy. Apparently very popular, but myopic and flawed.
