Sooo…
Bought a 24 Ranger XLT a few months ago and it does not have push button/keyless start. Didn’t think it was a big deal but have found it VERY annoying to have to use the flip out key and equally annoying that Ford did not include push button/keyless start in the XLT package. ??
I’m sure this has been discussed on this forum but a quick search didn’t find anything. I apologize for duplicate threads if that’s the case.

From what I understand, you can add or convert to push button/keyless start. Looking for some feedback from folks who have done this:
1 – which kit did you install and how much was it?
2 - Did you do it yourself or did you have it professionally installed?
3 - are you happy with the result?
4 - Did the modification void any warranties that you are aware of?

thank you, gentlemen.

I couldn’t agree more and have been trying to look into it myself. It probably shouldn’t be as annoying as it is but after driving (3) prior vehicles that had it (standard, not as options) i just don’t have the muscle memory anymore for using a keyed vehicle! LOL. I will pull out the fob, unlock the door, then put it right back in my pocket, hop in, then cuss my stupidity while i dig my key out of my jeans pocket while seated. Haha

I’m interested in this as well. I don’t mind using the fob to lock/unlock, but it will be great to not have to insert the key to start the truck. Looking forward to someone coming up with a solution!

I was looking online and the actual factory push-button ignition cylinder is only $66.

Generally speaking, keyed or push-button, the ignition is a momentary switch. What i am unsure is how electronic they actually are and if its possible to just swap them. As the FOB itself, not necessarily the key, *should* be the “security” component and as long as it’s in the vehicle, it could work.

might need some programming in Forscan. Or additional components. I haven’t looked into it that far, yet. I just looked up the ignition cylinder. Probably would also need some kind of specialized tool to remove and/or reinstall the cylinders.

This is the main problem i have. I drove the same base model Focus ST for 11 years and it had push button start and proximity lock/unlock. Never had to take the keys out of my pocket.

Found this today on my center console. Seem some videos and this is for configuring a new key to the car (that have factory keyless system).

It's probably just the plastic with nothing useful there since my car uses the regular key, but will look further to see if there's any hope.

Watching this post. Interested as well. Unless it requires new fobs as well as the button as the fobs can be several hundred each.

Guys, I finally got the courage and became the guinea pig on this one.

It works great. Now I don't have to even touch my key. When I get near the car it unlocks, when I move away it locks.

Nice! Details please! Which kit did you use and what all was involved in the swap out?

That's what I bought:

It's a completely independent system. The key looks like Ford's original but it is not.

Here's a video I found on Youtube showing how to install it in brazilian Ranger. Maybe youtube can auto-generate english subtitles for you guys to understand anything.

My electrician told me this video is very helpful but he had to do some steps that are not shown there. So, answering you guys: it's NOT a simple thing. He had my car there for two straight days to figure all out.

I also changed the led so it matches my interior lights.

I’m considering doing this as well. I wanted to see how you feel about the kit now that you have had it for a few months. Any issues?

No issues at all. I'm 100% satisfied with the result.

One thing you need to know before considering it: it involves lots of electric knowledge and tests. The tech guy who installed it for me spent around 3 full days figuring all out. The user manual that comes with the kit itself has close to none information.
