I've been averaging around 16 to 17 mpg with little highway driving. I was amazed to get 24 and 23.8 on my last 2 highway trips with my 2.7 Ranger Lariat. Both trips were around 130 miles traveling between 70 and 80 (hitting 85 a few times, but averaging 75). City driving kills the mpg getting 15.8 last fill up. My problem is a bit of a heavy foot.

On my '24 Lariat 2.7L with the FX4 and towing packages, I'm getting 21 mpg around town, 26 on the highway, and 16 mpg while towing 6,000 lbs (a horse trailer with one horse). I mostly run premium fuel, though I've lately been sneaking in regular when not towing.

I did a test to see how far off my mpg reading is.
First I compared odo distance with what Google maps says it should be. That ended up spot on, which surprised me. Also means I can legitimately use the odo distance for hand calculation.
Then I compared hand calculated mpg with what the dash says. The actual ended up being 98% of the dash reading. My average including in town driving was reading as 24, actual was 23.5.
On my 4runner, actual was usually something like 92% of what the car said. That's after accounting for the odo distance being less than actual.
Your car will be different than mine, if you want an accurate measurement, use gps for distance and hand calculate, filling up at the same pump every time

We've had 3 vehicles that have an ECO mode. In all 3 ECO gave the worst mpg by quite a bit.
Always lugging, always in too high a gear, always having to put your foot in it to keep from getting run over...
I think ECO mode is a cheat of the EPA formula, just like the old shift lights that would have you upshift at 1500 rpm...killed your mileage, or the TJs w 3.07 gears that got horrible mileage but were EPA rated higher. There are things that work for the "formula" but do not work in real life.

call me crazy, but i think i got better gas mileage in sport over ECO mode.

I have a 2024 mostly city drivong and short trips on I-5 and truck averages 20.5mpg. Towing a 4,000 lb trailer it was 13.5mpg.

My last couple days of driving. Mostly interstate with a few stops for gas and food. Maybe 30 minutes of idle while I "dined" at a couple of drive thrus.
Normal driving habits (getting on the gas to merge, passing a few trucks, construction slow downs, etc)
About 500lbs of equipment in the bed and in the back seat. 91 octane.
I don't think Eco mode makes any difference.
Finished my trip with 15 hours at 26.1 mpg.

My 26’ 2.7 XLT got started from 21mpg avg, raised to 22mpg at 1000 miles, and raised to 23mpg at 1800mi. Now it averages around 24.2 mpg at 2000mi for daily commute 15mi single way. I’d wait till it is fully bed in for the optimal result. Mostly county road around 45-55mph in normal mode.

Right on! I'm at 1250 miles right now. I've gotten a few solid road trips under my belt and am used to driving the truck on my normal commute. I've been tracking different metrics.
Between 1000 and 1250 miles, I'm averaging 16.8 MPG in commute traffic, which is about 50/50 45 MPH country roads and 30 MPH stop and go traffic.
On a full blown highway road trip, with minimal stopping and going ~70 MPH, I'm averaging 19.5 MPG.
I've yet to ever hit into the 20s.
