I gotta say I'm not really impressed. My 2021 F150 screw 4x4 with max tow package is rated at 23mpg highway, has a 36 gallon tank and 400hp/500tq.

I wanted the ranger since I don't need such a big truck anymore, but it doesn't make sense to switch if the 4cyl truck gets near the same mileage but will need twice as many gas station visits...

Is Ford building '24 Rangers or are they still building '23 Broncos?

Ford Ranger 2024 Ranger MPG (EPA) Fuel Economy Numbers Released! NCA%20Award%20Winners%202023-7

Absolutely loving the new Ford Ranger l think Ford's design team really nailed it got this one spot on nothing to dislike, definitely will be buying the new 2025 PHEV version when it arrives in the UK gasoline/diesel is so expensive over half of tank fill up cost is Government fuel tax & value added tax.

Looking at Global Fuel Prices.com

Gasoline prices, 13-Nov-2023
(US Gallon, U.S. Dollar)

Iran $0.10
Russia $2.30
USA $3.64
Australia $4.36
Mexico $5.29
China $4.49
Canada $4.72
UK $7.21
Hong Kong $11.73

We get totally ripped of in the UK!

Every road in Cornwall will soon get blanket 20 MPH maximum speed limit imposed everywhere off the main highways, rolled out between 2023-2027 to cut down on accidents. (Cornwall UK county/loosely similar to a US state).

So the new Ranger PHEV will much needed, it won't be to long till owners will start dropping out engine out, and running on 2 Horse power on a bag of hay. Wales a small UK country already has already rolled out blanket 20 MPH roads everywhere living a more laid back Caribbean type Amazon deliveries any time day will do.

Looking at these fuel economy combined numbers on here, when l purchased my 2011 Ranger 2.5 diesel for the first 6 months religiously calculated my average UK MPG it average out at 33 MPG all the time with my laid back easy going polite to over road users bit of a plodder type driving style. When put 33 MPG into a UK gallon to USA gallon converter that works out 27.48 US mile per gallon that seems a bit high compare these number.

Maybe it just simply down to the way EPA just simply carry out MPG tests compared to the way they are test in Europe that predominately uses diesel pick-ups that are now demonised, since the VW debacle cheat devise scandal opened up European legislators eyes on why countries like the US & Japan don't drive diesels.

Based upon that then definitely no reason to wait as the Bronco is rated for 20 mpg with the 2.7l 4wd. https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2023_Ford_Bronco.shtml
This actually give me a reason to wait. The Bronco 2.3 gets 20/21 and the Bronco 2.7 gets 19/21. The Bronco is a couple hundred pounds heavier and just about as aerodynamic as a washing machine. The 2.7L F-150 is even bigger and heavier than the Bronco and gets 17/23 in super-crew AWD. The 2.7 Ranger will likely get exactly the same MPG as the 2.3 Ranger at 20/24. There’s an outside chance it could get even better highway MPG than the 2.3 because it would be running at a lower RPM at the highway speed test points. I’m guessing 19/25 if anyone if taking bets or filing out squares.

Probably same rpm on 2.3 and the 2.7. Same gear ratio and tire size.

Biggest difference would be 2.7 has more torque but summer availability with a late summer early fall deliver it may as well be a 2025. Just a little too long to wait.
Will most likely go for the 2.3 and trade it is a few years for a 2.7 when they are easier to get.

The Ranger tank is 75 liters, about 20 gal. At least in the Raptor version it does not provide good fuel range if you travel long distances, not to mention the fuel economy in the raptor is pretty bad, I get 5.8km/l combined (around 13.6 mpg).

If the fuel tank its the same size for the 4 cyl versions you may get a much better range than what the raptor has.

In australia they make a 130 liter fuel tank for the ranger already, but I assume there may be some tradeoffs if you install it.

I believe the non raptor rangers are 18 Gallons. to me that's not far off from the 21 Gal I have in my 19' f150.

My 19 F150 is 36 gal so the Ranger Lariat I order will be half of what I currently have.

I believe the 2024 ranger (non raptor) is 18.8 gallons. Slightly higher than the 5G's 18.0 gal.

If they make a 20 gallon tank for the 6G, I wonder they don't use it in all the trucks. Does the Raptor suspension necessitate a different tank?

Bigger tank in the Raptor due to the poor mileage is my guess.
