my 1st 8k miles I was getting 26 to 27 mpg. I took an 1,800 mi trip and now I only get 20 to 21 mpg. I now have 11k miles on it. always using the same gas, except for the trip. what could possibly be the problem????

We're you relying on the trip computer? I find the trip computer is never accurate. I have been keeping my mileage on fuelly since I purchased my ranger. My average is 19.6 mpg in 16000 miles. My trip computer is always generous with what I actually get. The best tank I ever had was around 22.5 mpg. I do mixed highway and on town driving. I also live in Upstate NY with hills and cold weather. I notice in the cold my efficiency really drops off. I would be supper happy to see an actual 26 mpg.

Mine is averaging 20.x and i have tracked it on fuelly since i got the truck.

I got 27 on my first 2 or 3 tanks and then it went down to its current numbers but i think its because mine is a city truck and its always windy where i live. Shoot, its 45mph winds today

I’m right around 20-22 all the time, although I have the 2025 engine, so perhaps not apples to apples.

I am averaging 26 mpg but I also live in Canada where our gallon is bigger than the US.

Mine has dropped off lately due to the crazy winds every day. 20-21 mpg isn't too bad, especially if you did much 75+ mph driving on your trip.

Variations in speed, grades of roads, temp, wind. All this plays a factor. Best tank I ever had last summer in optimal conditions and doing about 330 miles on a tank was 26mpg. Usually avg 24.5 to 25 in summer and winter is avg 22.5 to 24 most times. I don't drive it crazy. On my 41 mile commute to work 1 way I usually top out at 70 or peak at 75 for a very short time then back down to 70. Also run 60 for the first 15 mins of my trip.

Possibly winter fuel blend.. I’m seeing the same with my truck. Check your tire pressure too… winter temps lower it. Colder weather tends to burn more fuel too… longer warm up period at higher idle. I wouldn’t get too concerned

Multiple things here.

-When i got my 2025 2.7 Lariat the trip computer would regularly read 22-25mpg 70hwy/30city %. After first oil change at 5k been 19-22 ever since. Now the truck was also bought in august and hit 5k in november so some could be chalked to the winter cioling. I think there may be an initial learning curve to the trip comp, dont trust completely but good tool.

-winter, fuel blends, air density.
The air is denser, more resistantance, harder to push the truck through and wants more fuel, coupled with winter blend gas.

-tire pressure. Bigger truck tires cause bigger pressure swings. Saw this just over past week. We had 70 degree temps and my tires sat around ~40psi. Just today it was 27 degrees, tire pressure ~35.

all these coupled makes a big difference in winter vs summer mileage for a truck, where its more noticable, and the wierd inital learning curve/settling of the trip computer through me off as well.
