I'm new here!

I placed my order on 5/27/23 for my 2024 Ranger Raptor. I ordered it from the dealership I bought my 2022 Maverick from.

The order process was going great until the manager came over and told me there was a 10K markup. I was very annoyed because no one told me this over the phone and it's an hour drive to the dealership. The sales guy insisted he told me which he NEVER did. I would not have made the trip.

After some talking they said they would do 5K and I can decide if I wanted it when it arrived. I agreed and gave them a 1K dollar deposit.

Honestly I have been planning on not buying the truck. Between the market today and what the dealer did I'm just salty. My Maverick has been great and I can't beat 0%APR on the Mav.

I have been checking the Ford tracking regularly and I got a call yesterday from the dealer that the truck was delivered. The sales guy sent me photos and I was annoyed. The truck arrived with 87 miles on it and it was dirty and had two random people's cell phones attached to the radio. The sales guy said Ford must have quality control tested it. Not sure if I believe that. To me and some friends it looks like the truck was transported/driven from a different dealer.

Below are photos I was sent.

Would you purchase this truck? I plan on test driving it tomorrow and getting my deposit back.

The quality control stuff has been common on this forum. I’d be mad about the extra 5k though and tell them to kick rocks. I’d keep driving the maverick and find another dealership for a 2025 RR personally.

I'm thinking the same thing. The whole process with this dealer put a bad taste in my mouth. The process with my Mav was great with them.

Another strange thing was I ordered this truck on 5/27/23. The order wasn't accepted until 7/11/23. Super weird to me and I have two different order numbers from Ford in my email. I actually called Ford about the second one and they said it wasn't scheduled to be built yet...

Nope. I wouldn’t due to the markup. I’d wait a year, especially since you have a Maverick that you presumably like. And the dirt and phone thing is just fishy.

I bet when you go tell them you’re not buying it, the mark up goes down to zero.

Ford changed from dealer orders to customer orders in July. The milage is not a big deal. Ford has run many trucks thru the test track looking for issues. The trucks get moved from holding lots as well.

I have the same spec, and love it (except for it shaving my legs upon entry/exit )!. Just an FYI - Mine came from the factory, after a 6-week transport, with 6 miles - 9 after dealer prep.

What did you pay? If you don't mind me asking.

IMHO, all the details are noise. What matters at the end of the day is the price. 5k over. Call around and you'll find one for MSRP, you just have to be on top of your searching. I got mine $500 under with Farm bureau Rebate. I also traded in a Maverick.

I paid 5k over with a 1k deposit in December. Truck was built 3/25/2024 but hasn't moved yet. I don't like the markup, but it's hard to find one without it.

I'd try this, Tell them that you'll do a $2,500 markup and take the truck, otherwise, because of the mess and others jacking their phones in to it, no deal.

What I wish I would have tried was "I'll do a 3k markup, and pay the whole 3k up front." I'll bet they would have taken it.

I’d buy it now. By summer or fall the MSRP will go up anyways by Ford. Try and talk them down on markup. I bet by model year 25 the truck is pushing 68k MSRP.

I think most of these early built truck do have a few miles on them, I think mine had 50-60 miles on it. That stuff would not bother me.

With a trade it’s really always about the actual trade difference amount.
‘They can tell you Ok sell it to you for MSRP, but drop the trade value down to compensate, and still show the same exact trade difference as the 5K over MSRP.

Whenever trading something in, I always try and analyze the overall final trade numbers and determine if I think it’s fair or something I can live with or want to make the deal happen, or walk away.

Yesterday morning I drove to the dealership and saw the truck in person. The Raptor looks great. I really like the redesign.

My sales guy knew what time I was arriving and the truck wasn't even at the dealer... He needed to pick it up from the detail shop. As I waited I sat in a new Bronco 2Door. Super nice.

After a little wait the Raptor pulled in and Wow. Super mean looking. I got to looking around the truck and honestly the first thing I spot is a paint chip on the fender above the passenger headlight. Not a good start. The rest of the truck looked fine and I didn't find any imperfections.

We went for the test drive and it has some power. Definitely more than my Maverick. I was messing with the different suspension and exhaust settings. Pretty neat you can change them. I hate how the V6 sounds. It's not a pleasant exhaust in my opinion. The truck drives very much like a truck. It wonders a little and feels very floaty. I haven't driving a body on frame truck since my 2018 Colorado.

After a quick spin we get back to the dealer. Right when we sit at the sales guys desk I let him know I'm not buying the truck. Between the size of it, the price and the practicality it's not for me right now. He understood and refunded me my deposit. I'm sure it will sell quickly.
