Can anybody with a new 2024 Ranger tell me if the access to the 2.3 engine’s oil filter changed in any way?

You can actually see it looking down into the hood, and from underneath. I haven't looked to see if Ford still expects you to access it from the driver's wheel well. It's still in the exact same spot on the 2.3L and still has a built in funnel underneath.

Appears there's also a plastic cover, aka "skid plate" you have to remove to access the oil pan/drain plug?

There's no door, but that cut out on the left could be for an extension.

Hell of a lot more room in that engine bay for sure, i can look right down at the filter, would have never saw it before. Truck is fresh to me, but I assume it will come out the same way as the old one.

Hi - any updates on this? How is the access to the oil filter once that plastic cover with the phillips head screw is removed?

I did just that on my first oil change. Removed the scrivit and was able to peel back the corner of the liner. With a ratchet extensions and filter wrench cap, got the filter loose and then remove the filter cap and unscrew the filter by hand and snake it out through the liner side.

I do not think it was ideal but way less of a pain than to deal with removing the whole wheel well liner IMHO.
