If someone has a factory installed brake controller and pulled the dash apart maybe they can find where the harness runs, make it easier to find in our non controller trucks.

Could one make a harness and plug it into the module and the controller and test to see if we need to change the module?
thats basically what I will be doing as funds allow me to purchase parts. I am looking at my local parts u pick scrapyard, and watching when they get a newer ford with the tbc switch, so I can remove the switch, and plug for switch, and ill make my own. I see my trm has 1 part number, but has an updated software part number when I bought the 72hr ford access.

and my 25 xlt is prewired for heated mirrors, turns, and puddle lights, and I already successfully added heated mirrors(I have a thread on it) so Im hoping I can add the intragrated tbc aswell.

This same trailer brake controller has been used on the F150s since 2021. There may be some of those in a yard. Do you know the part number of the plug that goes into the controller? I bet it's part of the dash wiring harness so it might not have it's own part number.

Here's an F150 harness in South Carolina for $175... Lots of good pics of the plugs on this listing too if that helps identify the plug.

It's your choice, but I can't imagine anyone buying that harness when you can buy a wireless Echo trailer brake controller. https://www.curtmfg.com/part/51180

Maybe people that want a bad headache will buy the harness

The purpose of this thread is to figure out how to add a factory controller to our trucks, not an aftermarket system.

Or just buy the Redarc Liberty that that plugs into the existing connector in the Ranger.
I don't think anyone has successfully installed the factory brake controller yet. Had one in my Maverick. All you need is adjustment and a button to push if you get sway. Seems like way to much work for the little you'd get.

the plug end is WPT-1822 and it is STUPID expensive. the newest ford in my local parts u pick to walk in myself is a 2019. they had a 22 a month ago, and thr day I went in, the day it went to crusher ffs. they cleared out that row. thats what I was gunna do, get junkyard switch and switch plug. so just waiting. the other junk yards around me, you cant go in and get your own parts.

Hi All, @Dave8311 is correct, I'm aware that the easiest option is the wireless and the RedArc, or "Your opinion brand X" I even mentioned it in the original post question. Please keep this on topic of OEM Controller integration. This is an exercise in "Can we" not "Should we"

Do you know any of the details of the WPT-1822 plug? it's not shown in that ridiculously expensive Ford part. I found a connector company that might sell only the connector that we could wire ourselves. If I had a picture of the connector face I could see if they could get it.

Sheesh! 🙄 thanks! 🙏
Like you said before. I got a lot of info in my posts/comments. lolol easy to miss it. :p

Okay I think this is the connector, but even from the company I found it from it’s still $88! I hate that 8” of wire on a connector costs as much as a circuit board backlit dash switch. https://connectorexperts.com/i-31648336-ce4451c.html

and yupp. its like 280USD or 360CAD from.ford online. and thats why my plan atm is to wait till a rig with the tbc switch gets put into my local upick, so I can grab switch, and cut the plug off. and then wire it in to test, if it works, then buy a new switch and the dash trim piece for the truck, and run the custom harness.
