I have a '24 Ranger XLT 4x4 Sport on order this week. I know I have a bit of a wait, but as a first-time truck owner and also ordering a custom vehicle for the first time, once it is delivered what should I look for as far as quality control? I guess I'm asking if there are any issues folks have been having with their deliveries so I know what to keep an eye out for. I opted for the high-tech package, advanced towing package, box step, and floor liners without carpet. Thanks for the help!

Below are the ones I've experienced. I wish I would have given more attention to the quality on delivery at the original dealership so they could have documented the visible ones. I did a fly and drive though and had guests with me so didn't take the time. Trusted that with all the QC holds, there wouldn't be concern.

A few scratches on entertainment screen surround. Clear coat on top left febd against tailgate is feathered a bit. Hard to see, but can feel the difference. Had to snap hood vent on driver side back in, as it was loose.

Overall satisfied. But a few things that could've been avoided with better quality controls in place.

Oh, man, that sucks. Thanks for pointing these out. I hope they fix it up for you. Seems an easy warranty claim.

I've only got 55 miles on my odometer, but I haven't noticed anything mechanical.

The plastic panel under the mirror seemed a little loose when my order first came in, but I think the dealer fixed that without me even having to say anything, because it's fine now. I've gone over this thing several times inside and out since taking delivery and I can't find a single thing worth complaining about.

My driver side door panel rattles with any good bass in the music. Pretty dang annoying. Have to slam the doors to shut. Other than that she’s been good to go after 800 miles. Not a QC issue but I dislike having to click “Ok” every time to get the seatbelt warning to turn off.

I've been seeing comments about the doors needing to be slammed. I wonder if they'll "soften up," so to speak, as they're broken in or if this is a QC issue with the door seals.

Try rolling down a couple of windows first then try closing door, if cabin is sealed air tight may cause a cabin preasure issuse. Haven't got mine yet so courious to see what you find out.

A/C refrigerant leaked out of the expansion valve. Dealer missed it at PDI. Still waiting on a replacement expansion valve as the seal replacement just leaked it out. Going on day 20 without A/C but luckily the weather has been pleasant. The drive and vacation in Texas, however, was not lol.

Other than that, no other issues.

Not sure. I’ve had the truck for just over two weeks and there’s still no difference. I’ve never had a new vehicle in which the doors were this hard to close. I’ll probably wait a couple of months before I cry foul and take it in for a realignment.

For those of you talking about the having to slam the door, I took mine to the Ford dealership and they fixed it in five minutes. There’s a few latches that just need to be adjusted.

I feel bad for everyone on this thread, but I am appreciative of it. I'm using this thread to compile a QC check list of my own, for when my vehicle arrives.

I've had an XLT for about 3 weeks now and here's my list of things to check.

Paint, I have 1 minor flaw, it's a paint drip/run under the clear coat along the door jam

Check underneath for rust

The doors seem to be needing some break-in. They required to be slammed or shut with a force behind them. It is better now and is getting better.

Hood needs to be slammed. I expect this to be similar to the doors but take longer to break-in.

The rear seat needs the same force (slammed) back into place so it latches. Both the seat back to the back wall and seat bottom to the floor.

*I swear everything needs to be slammed except the tailgate, glove box and center console lol

Be sure to drive the truck when it's cold and warm. I hate it when dealers pre-warm up the truck so you cannot experience a cold-start. I did request a cold start and they obliged.
Findings:
Engine: when cold, it's smooth but it's apparent the timing is retarded a lot to warm the cat (this is normal and an emissions thing) but does smooth out to "normal" once warmed up.
Transmission: it can shift hard-ish when cold but again gets better once it's warmed up. It does warm up quickly though.

Test the HVAC, make sure all modes work

All in all, I'm disappointed in the refinement and fines but don't have any major complaints.

FWIW, I had a deposit put down on a new RR due in late May to my dealer,.......and I backed out. I am a Ford retiree, worked over 30 years, 20 of which spent in QC departments. After much review, auto industry experience, and contemplation, buying the new model with the 3.0 ecoboost and all of its issues, just wasn't worth it to me. I prefer not to roll the dice. For those of you who did purchase and are waiting for your RR, I hope you get a quality vehicle built Ford Tough, that lasts for many years.
I'll be jealous every time I see one blow by me out on the road.....
