No issues before the update, and I have not noticed any differences since the update either.

That's not the fix for this issue. Ford issued a stop sale order on all Rangers or at least they did in Charlotte.

I have not had the update but my brake booster sometimes works and sometime doesn't which causes me to have to apply more pressure to the brake pedal. I'm so used to it that I barely notice it and won't do the recall until my next service appointment.

I didn't have the issue but I had mine done along with the air bag recall and an instrument panel reset. It seems like some of these simple software updates could be performed in the middle of the night via Wi-Fi if connected. While we are sleeping.

If I’m not mistaken, the stop sale didn’t have to do with the brake booster update, but rather the airbag tearing issue. Either way, I don’t know what you’re referring to when you said, “that’s not the fix for this issue”…

I spoke with one of the sales people at the dealership and that's what they said. Not sure if it's right or wrong. Soft and squishy brake pedals that go to the floor are not fixed by the software update as per the service manager at this dealership. All the people that have responded to thread after getting the software update have noticed no difference. Not sure if they were experiencing any issues though. Good luck.
the stop sale was because of the side air bag

i didn’t have any issue with the brakes before or after the update.

the way ford described the electric brake booster failure, you would get warning lights and not be able to have power brakes until you turned the truck on and off

that may or may not be the whole truth

i find this having to push the brake all the way to the bottom issue odd

these are brake boosters so the brake should not fail.

the only time I can recall having a brake pedal feel like that was with air in the brake lines

and some of the people having brake issues have models without the electric brake booster

If I am reading Ford’s recall letter right - the update fixes an issue where there would be soft and squishy pedal (paraphrasing, but it seems that is what they are alluding to) accompanied by warnings and alerts on the instrument cluster. I would also add, that from folks I have talked to, very very few people ever encountered this issue at all.
If you just have a soft and squishy pedal and nothing else, it’s probably a physical issue with your brakes, not the recall. I only say this, because the recalled issue is a software issue. But I’m no mechanic, so take that for whatever it’s worth.

Nor am I. Could be air in the lines that wasn't bled from the factory or bad master cylinder. When actuating the ABS brakes (hard braking), the pedal is all the way on the floor and the truck takes longer to stop.

it’s power brakes and the power goes off

so go out and pump your brakes when the engine is off

that Is what it should feel like.

You can still stop as you can pump the brakes

i do not see anywhere in the brake recall that it mentions or alludes to squishy brakes

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/RCLRPT-25V488-4203.pdf

Description of the safety risk, including crash, fire, death, injury:

An unexpected loss of brake boost while driving can result in increased stopping distance, which

increases the risk of a crash. If a loss of boost occurs during an ADAS request for braking, this can

increase the risk of a crash.

the only time if had a vehicle that you pushed the brake pedal to the floor without resistance was when I didn’t bleed the brakes properly.

Only change since the Brake recall update is an annoying clicking coming from behind the instrument cluster and if you pop the hood it sounds like a chirping. Sound is coming from the brake booster. Happens if the truck is running or sitting for hours. There is another thread full of people having the exact same issue since the update. Some have gone back to dealer and gotten zero solution.
