Anybody black out "XLT"?

since the letters just pop off and on, i would think it would be super easy to black them out yourself.

my stx got rearranged and now say txs (texas)

Assuming you mean the chrome letters on the side vent? If so - I did this, but I sprayed them the same color as the while arches and bumper (carbon gray I think). If you just want them black you can probably use plastidip and peel the overspray off. That would be a much easier job than what I did which was a PIA. I unstuck all the letters and removed the adhesive. roughed them up. Sprayed them several times. The hard part was then putting new adhesive on them because they are small and have a lot of little nooks. Then I restuck them on (I had marked the original location). Seach my posts and there are pics.

Each individual letter. If you can avoid taking them off, go that route. If you need to take them off make sure to tape around it and mark exactly where each letter was so that they look OEM when you restick them.

Again, the most annoying part of this is getting the adhesive back on the letters cleanly.

yeah. i didn't mark where they were originally so mine are probably not set just right. i was originally just oing to take them off but since i have those flag stickers on those vents, it looked funny with no letters there.

i need to find some USA letters to put there instead

Thanks. Im happy with how it turned out. But if I were to do it again (or if I were you) I'd probably just use black plastidip for 90% of the result and 100x easier. I wanted that OEM color to match the bumper and wheel arches though - so I made my life 100x more difficult.

Do you have the V6 engine? If so, they also make vents for Aussie v6 trucks in black that have trim around edges. It makes black trucks look great but yeah like others have mentioned you can do it yourself as well.

Just use 3M decal adhesive in a tube. It is designed for this.
