I'll post a photo once I get them installed.
That would be awesome. Thank you. Knowing what's involved. How they come off. How this go on. Would be huge to know prior to do it.

Might be a silly question, but why not just have the replacements clip on like the originals?

That's the reason I'm out on them. I like them but the original set clips in solid. These are 3M taped and much bigger. Not sure how well or how long they will last

I suppose you could make them flash if hooked into the turn signal wires. I thought about using them as a power source for my bed side step lights. I hooked into my bed/puddle light circuit.
as to the “cheapness” of the original ones, I go through a car wash at least every other day and haven’t had any issues.

if you want them as marker and turn. you can get a diode Dynamics switchback module. I got one from my old build in my car that is in my trailer for the side markers. so they function as STT lights. markers and turn signals at night, and turn/brake in day time. then when backing up with 4 ways on the whole trailer flashes. you just got to tie the marker and turn output wires togeather. DD said that would work, when Ibasked them before I repurposed them for my trailer.

Why not remove the oem vents and either paint or dip them and reinstall? Not sure if an led could be added at the same time?

To call these vents is a big stretch I think, there is really no air flow involved with them and they could be airtight with probably no issues. I've removed and installed my STX ones twice and they are both solid and easy to remove. I removed the stick on chrome letters on mine and did a custom badge so far, thought about the led mod. I didn't like the accessory stick on version, the price and that they tape on I don't like.
