Every once in a while walking past the truck at night I notice that the gauge cluster display is "on" but only showing the gear selection. The first time I noticed it I had the proximity key on me so I figured it just sensed me walking up and was preparing to unlock but there have been numerous times I've noticed it with keys nowhere near the truck.

Happens to mine too! Curious what anyone might be able to share or shed light on.

I rented a new Tahoe this weekend. The left turn signal would work on and off and the seat belt reminder would work sometimes when you started it. It seems these newer cars have a lot of random software glitches.

Mine does the exact same. No rhyme or reason to when it does it either. I assume it is connecting to check in or loading a update but thats just a guess......

Modern vehicles are always thinking, which is why if they are not driven daily a battery maintainer is recommended. It started with German cars but now it includes all makes.

That was one of my guesses as well but it seems like it happens way to often for that. Glad to see I'm not the only one. But I hope this doesn't bite me in the winter 🤣

Mine does it also. I am thinking it has something to do with the perimeter alarm system???

Not sure thats it. I can look across the garage and see the cluster light on and am nowhere near the truck and the key is way in the back of the house. and this is at 5 AM. I bet most people dont even notice it. its probably more prevalent than we know.....I dont think its a malfunction, just a software side effect/glitch.

Do the Rangers have some sort of proximity sensor system in them that doesn't depend on the key? Sometimes when I walk past my truck to the mailbox I will hear a "click" come from under the hood, When it happens it is always when I pass within 1-2 ft of the truck about even with the driver door. I do not have my key in my pocket.

You are 100% spot on - ....random software glitches. These random software glitches are happening on all brands. My neighbor has a new car and the right headlight come on when he starts the car.

I think that click is coming Frome the break booster? I've seen that mentioned in other posts before... Apparently it didn't happen until a software update, but ever since I've had my truck it's clicked. I think that's another separate random thing.

Noticed mine doing this tonight. Same as you. Key was in the faraday box in the house. Truck wasn’t clicking, though. Hopefully doesn’t drain the battery.
