Someone mentioned this in a thread on another topic, but I thought I'd give it a separate thread.

My rear seatbelt warning chime started going off recently. When it happens I usually have one person in the backseat (with seatbelt fastened) and the other two seats are empty. In order to turn it off I have to fasten the seatbelts in the empty seats.

My theories are that either (a) whatever sensor determines there is a backseat occupant is overly sensitive, or (b) I have a subwoofer installed behind the back seat and maybe its pushing on the seat in some way to trigger the sensor. Just guesses.

Anyone else experience this and is there a way to fix it? Its pretty annoying.

My truck isn't a Raptor, but the other person who mentioned this issue was a Raptor, so seems like it could be a broader issue (and the Raptor forums are more active).

I had this happen at night, first passenger back passenger side.

Somehow my front passenger corrected it, I don't know how. I heard something about wrong buckle.

My theory is that since the passenger side rear can get confused because the middle buckle is right next to it

So my solution has been to leave the center belt plugged in to avoid that possibility.

I have not followed up on this because I haven't had a problem since. I seldom have passengers in the back seat.

there are zero seat sensors in the rear. its goes off the buckle sensor, and the rear door opening and closing. so if a rear passenger buckles wrong seat belt, and then unclicks it, and doesnt open the rear door, it thinks someone is in the seat without the belt on, thus either having to rebuckle the seat, or open and close the door.

I’m pretty sure it’s the buckle. The center buckle can become the passenger side buckle if they are not in the correct spots in the lower seat pass through. It’s an easy fix. Just switch them through the pass through.

I had this same situation happen. I remember the rear passenger having trouble finding the right buckle but eventually did find it. Now I know the sequence to fix it! I'm glad I don't have to leave the center one buckled all the time. So grateful for all the brilliant folks on here.

I had this happen. I had two passengers in the back seat and the middle seat sensor showed someone sitting in that position and that was causing the alarm. I verified both passengers seat belts were in the correct position. Finally just buckled the middle seat seat belt to get it to stop.

Happens to me when rear side pass accidentally tries to plug into middle belt. Then buckled correctly. I usually just open and close my door and it resets the system.

Happened to me a few weeks ago, my son was sitting in the rear passenger seat, buckled into the center seat buckle and the truck kept making a racket. I pulled over, turned the truck off, had him correct it, then carried on because it didn't fix it by moving the buckle to the correct one.

If it happens again, I'll try to open my door and see if that takes care of it.

I cant believe it's just because my back seat passengers are using the wrong buckle!! I'll check this!!

I had 2 kids in the back and they were playing with the seatbelts, kept setting of the alarm. I just inserted the buckles 2-3 times and the alarms reset themselves , eventually. :sunglasses:
