I wish I knew. I'm kinda thinking about it like being in a restaurant and not wanting to eat spit. So I haven't asked them why my steak is taking so long...ya know?
No, I don't know. Don't you work there? Ask WTF is the holdup...

I would give em a shot at the repair before trying to buy it back but you were also probably lucky enough to not pay an ADM too though.

It is such a new truck parts delays are understandable (yeah Bronco Raptor uses the engine too but maybe different part numbers). I was a Benz tech, we had on occasion backorder Germany situations that took weeks for parts. I would guess Ford would decline it anyway since it is on a first attempt repair and not even 2 weeks, probably needs to be over 30days to consider it. Gotta remember, it is a pain for the tech too, he wont get paid till the job is done and booked.

My 2021 is getting a new engine at 50k miles and been in the shop 3 weeks now, 16th I think will make it a full month, been on his lift the whole time, he seems to have 3 lifts thankfully, would rather it stay on the lift. Engine came in yesterday so I hope to get it back next week. Been patient because no favors go to the pain in the butt customers. Just hope the tech working on it does a great job as you never know what kind of tech will work on it. Good or sloppy.

Good luck and hopefully it is done right.

Edit seeing the post ahead of mine: Surprised Ford still has these issues though. Didn't they learn from the gen2 Raptors? Sheesh
A 2.3 being replaced? What happened?

Ford won’t even start the buyback process until it reaches your state lemon laws, usually that’s 30 days in the shop.

I just want the truck to be right. I've gotten the opportunity to hear 4 new Ranger Raptors start. 2 had bad vct's and 2 good from the factory. Heard several bad vct's on new Bronco Raptors as well. I don't want to get rid of the the truck, it is peerless. I am giving an opportunity...it's been 9 weeks and 1 day today since it was diagnosed. Where is the line between a patient and impatient person in this scenario? Yes they gave me a brand new loaner to drive, does that excuse knowingly shipping brand new vehicles with bad internal engine components? I know they knew about my truck before shipping. It was built 01/11/24. Shipped 04/19/24. Arrived 7 days later and had 97 miles on odometer when it arrived. All of the miles were from Ford (not transport companies) as I watched the trucks progress on VinView so I always knew odometer mileage. So how long is a fair time for me to wait?
Really though the clock doesn't start until the truck is in the shop. Not the dealers fault, they didn't build it. Ford's engineers and their parts manufacturers are to blame.

Man, I humbly say this but your $200k means nothing to Ford or any brand. Shoot, Ford even threatened to sue (or did sue) John Cena for selling his Ford GT40 too quickly, they obviously weren't concerned with bad press.

Either they will buy it back or not. Doesn't hurt to ask. We had a VW Passat bought back some years ago and I was shocked how effortless it was. Other brands not so much. If Ford declines and you still want it gone, speak with a lemon law attorney.

I would just be patient. I know you miss the truck, sucks. I miss mine too and can't wait to get it back.

Yeah I probably should...and to hell with the consequences
Ask nicely, nothing wrong with that. "Hey Advisor man, just wanted to check in and see how the truck is coming along?" will do the trick.

So I've known my cam phasers were bad from the factory. I waited for official recognition from Ford that there was a problem before attempting a warranty repair. I had my truck inspected and the dealership agreed I had bad cam phasers. 6 weeks for the parts to arrive, 2 more weeks to schedule the repair. My truck has now been on the lift for 8 days. The first 2 days it got worked on. The next 6 days it just sat there. I am frustratingly close to starting a buy back from Ford. I have purchased 3 new Ford's in the last 3 years for quite a bit of money. The repair process is not going to make it easy for me to buy another one. I do love this truck...but who needs a $60k paperweight?

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have a new Ranger XLT/FX4 2.7L on order. I’m told it may be a ‘24 but likely a ‘25 just due to timing. The cam phaser issue, is it an issue on all the Ranger engines or just the 3.0’s? I’m getting a little nervous… ugh.

I had a 2023 Bronco Badlands Sasquatch with the 2.7l and did not have cam phasers issue. It is MUCH less common on the 2.7l. I wouldn't be concerned. I believe it is the highest produced F150 engine and they have been making it far longer than the 3.0l.

I had this issue in my gen2 and know multiple others that did as well. I can’t believe after all the time and money they spent on engineering this vehicle and their cost of repairs for previous recalls on the gen2 they still have not learned their lesson and engineered this problem into the truck again. Someone should get canned over this…maybe the whole department. Unbelievable. Maybe they just wanted to make sure they keep their dealership service departments and themselves profitable esp post warranty. As we all know these big car companies make most of their money off of parts and repairs than actual vehicle sales. No issues on mine so far.

I just got to spend $3K on replacing the cam phasers on my out-of-warranty 3.5 F150, and I also own a 2.7 Bronco. I'm just waiting for that bomb to drop... 😩

Good luck with your Raptor... 🤞

For sure. Let’s see what happens with those who got the Performance tune when their warranty expires after three years/36k. 🤦‍♂️ In my opinion, after having had a bunch of sports cars and track time in them, this truck has more than enough power for daily driving given the traction limits with off road tires. More power is mostly just for bragging rights as you wouldn’t really be able to put it down well at all much less have situations where you could actually use it.

Just got the call from the dealership - 100% phasers. It's an engine out service their doing. Parts by Wednesday and hopefully one a week from today.

Just dropped mine off for diagnostics. The clock has started.
