Saw two Chevy Colorados on the road the past two days—grey one and black one, didn’t catch the model. I really like their exterior styling. However, I can’t get over the horrible interior in my opinion.

My neighbor has a new ZR2? I think the model number is. Looks nice but like you I don't like the interior and lack of apple CarPlay is a deal killer for me as well

I love the new Colorados and their interior, especially the ZR2/AT4X. It was a tough call for me but the RRaptor edged it out.

Ultimately, the dealbreakers for me were: no homelink garage door opener, rear seat doesn't fold down, no rain-sensing wipers, they don't have the off-road tech that the Rangers and Tacomas have (i.e. trail control), and color options were either boring or ugly.

I want ventilated seats in my next truck so bad that I've been tempted to overlook all those negatives. That's the only major thing the Ranger is missing for me.

I thought they were dropping it?
They are but not just like that. Everyone is switching to GAS (Google Automotive Services).

I’ve worked on Project Phoenix with Ford which is their implementation of it. It’s very neat honestly

A friend of mine has a ZR2 ordered with a build date of 8/14, I’ve got a RRaptor ordered but have not gotten a build date yet. The Colorado looks good but with no other engine except a 4 cylinder, that just doesn’t appeal to me. It falls short of what a truck like that could & should be in my opinion.

Agreed. The ZR2 comes so close. They should have put one of GM's 3.0 turbo V6 engines under the hood. Cadillac has a few that could have been re-tuned and given the RRaptor a run for it's money. Unfortunately they chose not to. Plus GM insists on putting that godawful gray and yellow interior in all their ZR2 trucks regardless of model. That alone makes it a hard pass for me.

I think Apple is working on the same thing with Car Play aren't they? Where everything in the car can be controlled from one system, either Car Play or Android and never really need to use the manufacture's system?

From what I have read on the colorado forums, you have to have a google account and a onstar subscription for the in system maps to work.

So from what I know from working specifically with GAS is it's a licensed system that OEM's adopt into their hardware. It's extremely nice though in that it allows for not only HMI but also auxiliary displays. The intent is to have your dash/gauges be basically just a display like a computer monitor and all the backend is self-contained to one centralized unit instead of the multiple core units throughout that have to communicate together.

Sounds similar and my bet is the systems will work with either eco system. Good chance google and apple are working together on standards so both there systems can work but I could be wrong.
