I have a 2025 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. I want to put in a dash cam and have had very good luck with FITCAMX in previous vehicles. Problem with my Ranger is I don't have rain sensing wipers and the FITCAM calls for connecting to the rain sensor for powering the camera. without that FITCAM is telling me to hardwire or run line to OBD port which I really don't want to do. is there any other option in the shroud area behind the mirror I could use? I do have the auto dimming rearview mirror so was wondering if I could power off that. TIA for anyone that has hooked up one of these dash cams. also does anyone have the PIN locations I need to use on the rearview mirror for attaching my radar detector?

Don't overcomplicate it, all you need are simple fuse taps to run to the cabin fuse box. I can't remember which one I tapped, I just remember using the fuse box info to select one that's hot after ignition.

There are also plenty of other resources available like this one.

Hope it all works out!

There are a few post on this. Search dash cam. You can tap into mirror quite easily.

fuse taps are pretty easy to do. i have very little experience with fixing/adding things to cars. i put a dashcam in my 2020 with a hardwire fuse tap kit and it worked fine for years. i have a 2025 now and i tried to put in a new dashcam. i tapped fuses 28 and 35 but seems i got something wrong so now i ordered a 3 prong fuse tap so i can use 21-22 which i think will fix my issue with parking mode not working. it is easy to find unused fuses to use for a tap, but i find it hard to learn which fuses are always on and which are on when truck is on (necessary to know if you have parking mode).

OP if you order a hardwire or fuse tap kit just keep in mind that you may need a 3 prong fuse tap if you want to use parking mode. amazon has them but according to what i read some don't fit well and you need to shave a little plastic off the fuse tap to get it to fit. i have a 3 prong tap coming from amazon and hope it will fix my parking mode issues. my dashcam has a pretty wonky interface so at first i thought i didn't have the settings right, but now i think my parking mode isn't working because i tapped the wrong fuses.

I just got done hardwiring mine about ten minutes ago. It seems intimidating at first, but it's honestly so easy. The flaberdoopin video on YouTube is a huge help.

Fuse #35 is unused and has power running to it when the truck is on, that's the easiest one to tap into.

Flaberdoopin is AWESOME! I link people to his channel all the time. Especially the one on heat/sound insulation in the doors. So easy and such a satisfying job!
