Legit my bad, thats probably why I was so confused. I appolgize
No worries. I know you the OP and had some reservations. It was just someone complaining about 20mpg city which is better than sticker. I like the 2.7 as it was in a some of my F150s and in my Bronco. But it wasn’t necessary for me in the Ranger. Especially with the updated version.

If you do f150 stuff and you have the room, then I would get a f150.

I think the ford maverick looks like a great vehicle. Ford sells a lot of them.

i might have bought one if they had a pass through bed.

one nice thing about the ranger, it fits in my garage.

the Ranger, Tacoma, etal seemed to have been in the gym the last decades and become bigger

evn so it is definitely easier to negotiate sround a parking lot versus the full sized versions

making the the distance between the wheel wells in the Ranger bed was a nice move for handling 4’ wide sheet goods

and while not spacious, an adult can sit in the rear seats,

I agree it would be nice to have better gas mileage, but the completion isn’t any better.

I don’t think there is a lot of difference in the sticker gas mileage for the 2.7l f150 and the Ranger so not a big surprise there isn’t a huge difference in the real world

i Personally thought I would replace my 2003 Tacoma with an electric truck of some sort. Maybe my next truck ?
I want a reasonably priced mid-size electric pickup. I *almost* purchased a Flash, but I was just too big for my needs - and still too expensive.

I didnt know they updated the 2.3L until I ordered my 2.7L

How do you like it?

I have had many 2.7L also and I really like this engine.

My job took me to a city its the main reason I downsized my F150.. it didnt fit anywhere

I really like it. I drove an older one and i can tell a difference. It’s not huge but it’s there. I did a 4000 mile trip cross country and then some and got 25mpg overall. Mostly not ideal conditions either even when i was flat. I’m happy with my 19mpg city i was getting with dropping kids at school stop signs traffic lights short trips to there a work. Better than the 11 i got in my Mustang on that same trip lol. I did get up to 28 mpg hwy with the Mustang and saw similar with the Ranger. Just needed an overall more friendly vehicle for the elements since i loved to Nee England.

Since there aren’t any 5 year old Mavericks, the best comparison would be- does an Escape last 5 years? I’m not sure what your opinion is based on, but I’m skeptical.
Pretty simple-

The Maverick was developed as a budget utility truck. We all know Ford products are not on the top of the reliability chart and they have been using cost cutting procedures as of late. Again, these are my “opinions” as a long term Ford owner, amateur Baja truck builder (with buddies), and previous Ford employee. My thoughts on the Mav are derived from the current build quality, performance of lower end products, quality assurance issues, depreciation of this vehicle, ability to re-sell, ect.

Parting with the Mav within 5 years is my personal timeline for the truck. If you believe you can keep a Mav problem free for 10/15 years and re-sell them like the old Rangers then be my guest.

I think they are going to age like a Hyundai or Kia.

Civil debate? You said his thoughts aka opinions are incorrect. Yet you clearly don’t know what an opinion is so there can be no civility when you don’t even understand the inherent nature of a conversation with opinions

Had a 2022 Maverick FX4 with 2.0 ECO. GREAT little trucklet. Did urban truck things just fine. The ONLY issue I hit with the Mav was when we moved up to a Lance 1475 trailer. Mav had 4,000lbs max. tow. I was just too close to the GVWR with the Mav and the trailer. I moved to a 2024 Ranger XLT with the towing upgrades (7500 lb. towing). That was the ONLY reason I moved up to a Ranger. I liked the Mav ride better, lower bed height, and got like 30 mpg highway. I do love my my Ranger though.

I am pretty happy with my 2025 Lariat 2.7l EB MPG's. I am getting 20 City / 24 Hwy. Compared to my 2021 4Runner at 17 City / 21 Hwy and 2019 Titan XD 15 City / 18 Hwy - the Ranger is the MPG champ of my fleet. These vehicles are like driving a brick into the wind, so I am not sure how anyone would expect much higher MPG's. I do wish the Ranger had a larger fuel tank - 25 gallons would be nice.

Yup. I loved my 2017 titan but the gas mileage was not good.

It was a towing monster though. You didnt know you were towing anything other than you saw it in the mirror. I am on titantalk, too, if you are

I have been having some hard feelings the last few days, I own a 2025 Lariat Ranger 2.7L

I love the size exterior dimensions of my Ranger but not inside i feel i may have gone to small and the fuel economy in the city is as bad as my old F150. Im wondering if I should have bought a maverick hybrid.

I love my truck most days but am having buyers remorse... andnmissing my F150

Was hoping for some thoughts...
I've had a large truck (either an F150 or Ram 1500) for more than 15 years....and I don't miss them at all. I was always stressed about parking as they wouldn't fit in most parking garages and was parking far from entrances of stores due to small spaces. Not to mention I could not fit them in my garage. The Ranger can park just about anywhere and fits in my garage.

I bought a 2025 Ranger Lariat 2.7L and I couldn't be happier with it. Its WAY better than the 2023 2.3L Ranger Lariat I had. Right now even with under 1k miles on it I'm averaging 20 mpg in town, and was hitting an unexpected 24.8 mpg on a highway trip with cruise set to 70 mph in Normal mode. That's better than my 2023 2.3L ever did after the engine was broken in...

Coming from a lifetime of F 150s, starting with a 302 F 100 Ranger, I wanted a smaller vehicle for scooting around town, and not an SUV. I originally test drove a Maverick, my personal feelings was that it was claustrophobic, and despite being called a "truck", I just could not accept a uni-body vehicle as being a real truck. Saw too many Explorers that bent in the middle from going off road over the years. That being said, the little non-hybrid Maverick did get pretty impressive fuel economy although towing anything wasn't fun. The hybrid, when the dealer finally got one, got even better gas mileage, but oddly its performance was worse than the non-hybrid version. Neighbor bought a hybrid Maverick, and he loves it; but he did used to drive a Focus...

Now, if you want F 150 size AND decent fuel economy, you may want to consider the F 150 Powerboost. I bought my wife a 2025 3.5 Powerboost F 150 King Ranch. She's been getting a pretty respectable 24 mpg combined and on her one long highway trip saw 28 mpg at 70 mph (while she was letting the Blue Cruise drive). Now fun fact about the Powerboost, Ford in their completely unintentional wisdom created a Raptor-killer. My wife had someone with a new Raptor want to race her at a stoplight, at the next light he spent apparently the whole time staring out the driver's side window... I kind of went "Yeah, right he probably doesn't know how to drive it" and decided to take it for a spin. It has definitely impressed me, and now I've found the Powerboost's abilities versus the Raptor are documented, even in the dirt. https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/f150-hybrid-beats-raptor-in-drag-race.html

But yes, to answer your question, I love my 2025 2.7L Ranger Lariat, and wouldn't trade it. Well, except for maybe a Powerboost Ranger, but as Ford has already said we're unlikely to ever see the Ranger hybrid in the US, then it's a keeper.
