I shot for the TX State Rifle Team competing at Camp Perry.

This is the last time I shot my double lugged M1A. I was invited to shoot at 1000 yards as they wanted to see how an M1A with iron sights do on 18 wide 24 high steel plate.

I've had my carry permit for 10+ years and I've worked as an LEO now for ~5 years. I've always felt that if you carry a gun in public you must train. My department puts us through an annual qualification once a year. We'll do half the day on handguns and half the day on long guns. I don't believe that's at all sufficient so I try to make an effort to train outside of work. Sometimes if the budget allows we might be able to squeeze in a second qualification each year but I've only seen that done twice in my 5 years. I try to get out an additional 2-3 times a year on my own time and burn through a few hundred rounds on my work gun and carry gun practicing different drills.

Earlier this year I bit the bullet and spent the money to attend a Thunder Ranch class. If you enjoy shooting and want to get better, I highly recommend attending a Thunder Ranch class. The quality of instruction is great and you get your money's worth for sure. It was far and above anything I'd ever learned from work. Kit Badger on YouTube has probably a dozen videos reviewing Thunder Ranch classes if you're interested in learning more about their courses.

Architect & Business Owner... commercial projects for over 40 years.
Its been a while now but I went to the gun range fairly regularly in years past. I had a CC license & carried daily. I competed in SASS & hunted Texas white tails, dove, turkey & even pheasants a couple of times. It was always fun shooting & hunting with my son & my buddies. Opening of deer season was a family & friends gathering... lots of good memories & good food. Now, I mostly just look at a safe full of pistols & long guns & enjoy keeping 'em clean & working the action.... maybe some day soon I'll go punch holes in paper at the range!🤠

None of yall’s damned business what I might or might not have in the safe. 😉 But I shoot when time allows, which isn’t nearly as frequently as I want. Up until 4 yrs ago, I was shooting 200-300 rounds a week. Now I’m lucky to shoot 500 rounds a year. I enjoy shooting rifles the most, but also like pistols and busting clay pigeons with my shotguns. I reload for 21 calibers, so shooting isn’t as expensive as if I had to buy the ammo, but reloading components isn’t cheap snymore either.

Its tough to get to the range these days with work, kids sports, household chores, the cost of gas, groceries, ammo etc. ......but I keep my club membership paid up to date every year in the hopes that I will retire someday and have lots of time to shoot? right thats the dream! Heres a few photos of my collection. Also have a Mini 14 5.56 stainless and a Marlin Camp 9 Carbine:sunglasses:
