If Motorcraft SB wouldn't meet the new 971 spec, why would they fill the oil pan with it at the factory?

I was incorrect. Ford apparently did not update the web page but the spec sheet shows 971

Been using Havoline 5/30 in my 2.3. Meets the 961 spec and comes in a 6qt box which is perfect!

I’ve used QS in my 2.7 bronco for a few years and now doing my first change in my RR. Never an issue. Just picked up 7qts at Walmart for $33 total! Cant beat the price.
