Does anyone know what finish is being used on these shock bodies? Idk if it's a ultra thin zinc coating or what but I took a single round trip over the Sierras to East of Reno (600-700miles)and the finish on these shocks looks absolutely roasted up, kinda unexpected that they look all rusted and pitted that quickly...

Looks like an old baseball bat. Have the same ones (will take a look today at their condition).
My rears bottom out already with only a couple hundred pounds in the back, and bad winter roads.
6 months old...
Guessing steel, to answer your question.

Just got off the phone with them now, they took my email so I could send photos. It was a bit of a duck dive dodge type conversation. Apparently the gentleman said he's only every had 5? contacts ever about this but there was a good amount of hustle talk.where I had to correct the statements...

It was really just a blow off type thing where some incorrect statements where thrown out casually and I had to jump in to correct them, I did try to contact their marketing but the voicemail was apparently full. Before I even shared anything I just quickly searched other forums and apparently this has always been the standard, although the Eibach guy said something vague about these new shocks using a different/improved coating, I don't think so though.

As an update after the very odd conversation directly with Eibach they took my email after requesting photos and then all I received from them so far was 3 marketing emails...So I searched and found 2 email addresses for them and sent the photos, no response at all...

One of the few odd things thrown out during the conversation by the Eibach rep was a vague claim that in the warranty fine print that surface finish was totally excluded, of course on their warranty page it says no such thing

dude, those pics look really bad. that is horrible that they look that after such a short time. we have run eibach on lots of autocross vehicles that also were daily drivers and they never looked that way

It was a huge disappointment after a single road trip, I did search up some other feedback about this and people have talked about it. It was a pretty substantial investment and from the conversation I had they just don't care really, they said something about if I had paid more than double for the 2.5 line I'd have a better looking shock after a trip

That looks surprisingly bad.

Did you drive through salt water on your road trip by any chance? Or through snowy/salty roads? It really looks like more than just water got on it, but maybe their finish just really is that bad. Based on the customer service you've received I'd be very cautious to use Eibach

So passing the High Sierras Mountain range was was clear but the roads were salted and a few miles of damp, trip was 2 days and then completely washed everything. Definitely was subjected to salt water but for one mountain pass it's in pretty rough shape. It's more that when I reached out they talked down to me and gave incorrect statements to where I had to interrupt to correct. Not really what I would expect from the business
