Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 rear shocks rusting/pitting after a single trip?

OP, are you otherwise satisfied with the Eibachs? I may order them anyway but spray them with clear rocker panel protector before I install them. Like this stuff.

I like the idea of being able to easily adjust the ride height.

Yes I am as it was a good improvement and options were definitely limited at the time, had I been more familiar with them I may have taped off and used a similar product, I think that will be worth doing for sure

This is the kit I ordered. I got them Thursday. Shows in stock but looks like the price went up. I paid $1100. I'm going to have the local Ford Service Dept install them next week. I'm too old to be doing that stuff now.

Eibach Pro-Truck Lift Stage 2

Been looking at the Eibach Pro-Stage 2Rs for my truck, not I'm not so sure. I liked all of the reviews that stated Eibach has a Limited Lifetime Warranty on their shocks, you can still find the pdf version of that warranty online. But apparently somewhat recently, in addition to the current shortage, Eibach has changed the policy on their shocks to a 2 Year Limited Warranty. Can't get an answer out of Eibach as to why the sudden change from Lifetime to 2 Year Warranty, especially since roughly at the same time Fox upgraded their truck shock warranty from 1 Year to Lifetime. Wondering if that is part of the reason Tire Rack is discounting them?

I can say pretty confidently that if the finish on your shocks starts to decay/pit/rust on the first mountain trip like mine did, Eibach will not seem to care but only mention that if more was spent on their "higher" end shocks with cerakote it may not happen? Its hard to get real details on their "zinc" finish but whatever process it is seems to be focused on how cheap they can do it and not much at all on durability... Really was surprised that being as they represent the parts as quality premium components, when it comes to address end user/customer concerns there doesn't seem to be much support on their end

Really I was disappointed in that it was a very premium priced kit, and yeah it may function as designed but to have it look like garbage after one late winter trip over the Sierra's in fair clear weather is not what I'd expect from premium automotive components, of course it's my opinion alone and what I've shared just represents a single sample size of what I experienced. If my experience helps a single person at least (which I think it has) then it was worth it to share

Its funny, but Bilstein's B8 5100s are also zinc coated, and their finish is pretty much indestructible. As far as their Cerakote 3Rs go, it doesn't say a lot about Eibach Support that told you that you should have gone with their "higher end shocks" which are not even available for the Ranger. Their poor customer service reviews really have me reconsidering Fox with their new lifetime warranty, or the newly available B8 5100s with their lifetime warranty.

Does anyone know what finish is being used on these shock bodies? Idk if it's a ultra thin zinc coating or what but I took a single round trip over the Sierras to East of Reno (600-700miles)and the finish on these shocks looks absolutely roasted up, kinda unexpected that they look all rusted and pitted that quickly...

Was it only the rears that rusted like this?. I’m waiting to buy this kit and now I’m reluctant.

No that’s ok but thank you. Would you still buy this kit or go with another brand? The eibach kit is supposed to be back in stock 09-04-26, so I’m on the fence between Eibach and fox.

I can say it fit my budget at the time and as well there was limited options then, and not sure what else might be newer to market. I can't say everything about performance but I believe it is superior to stock and at the least the on road feel is great. Now you may call Eibach and ask about the 2.5 kit if they will ever produce it. I would probably spend the premium for that. I'm trying to be reasonable with my thoughts not having the long term experience but I think you'd be happy with the Eibach kit especially if it didn't rust and look gross for you... Hopefully that at least gives some perspective
