Thanks for the reply. I can’t convince my dealer. The problem never shows up when I’m there. I’ve shown them photos but they just keep saying it’s ok. I suppose I’ll have to hope it gets worse.
Get the battery tested by someone else at first. I did that and the result was "cranking power low" and "cranking voltage 7.8 volts".
Dealer did some of their own tests and replaced the battery.

You’re right. I was thinking about doing that. I will. Thanks

Well, if it gets to that point, I took snapshots of all my ecm monitor screens to prove it. I still think it's partly the FP app. The vehicle starts fine with the key fob in the house. It would choke if the battery was dead. Even after I run it, the amount of gas left and gps doesn't always update.
I'm determined and have all the software and hardware to do it myself. I have 2 modules that need updating, the acm and trm.... Both will get done because the dealer is a pain in the arse about it. Tomorrow or Weds it supposed to get warmer. We shall see.
I'm attaching the SSM I found. PDF format...
Also an AB screen shot of the firmware of the mentioned serial number.

Interesting. In the last few weeks I'm having trouble starting with the app. The truck is close by and I'm in my house with strong wifi. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. But your comment about the battery is what caught my eye. I've been having trouble with my battery. Without the engine started it often says 11 volts and even with it started it sometimes says 13 volts. I get messages about Charge System Fault and Remote features disabled and the battery fault light on the dash. . I've had it to the dealer twice and they say it fine?
Does your truck sit a lot, take short trips, or is it driven daily a decent amount?

Used daily but usually short trips.
I would disable auto stop/start for one, and I would install a battery maintainer like the NOCO 2D. There is room for one down behind the left headlight next to the frame and the power cord just reaches the tow hook which makes for a good place to stow the cord when not in use. Long skinny arms help with the install and a zip tie or two to hold it in place. Remove the skid plate for better access.

I have maintainers on all my vehicles, modern vehicles are always sapping your battery when parked and if you don't drive long enough they don't get topped off which is detrimental to lead acid batteries, every day they sit under-charged they lose capacity that they don't get back.

Starting your truck and driving to the store, then starting it and driving home likely leaves it under charged and losing ground daily, not to mention any auto stop/starts on your short trip and the normal parasitic loads when parked.

Demand that they do a proper charge and load test on it. Techs don't like doing that because it time consuming and they don't get paid enough flat rate to do it. That is their problem not yours. Automotive mechanics are the biggest Premadonna's in the mechanical world. (I have been. HD mechanic for almost 35 years)

Well I took it in about 2 months ago and they just said they tested it and found nothing. Last week they took it for 2 days and said they were doing more extensive test (whatever that is) and still found nothing.

That would be nice but I live in a town house and have no way to run power to the truck. I do have the stop/start disabled.

Once you get it working right from the app you can create a shortcut and control it by SIRI commands. I use it to unlock my truck as I approach it in store parking lots.
I just set this up. Thanks for the info. Works perfectly.

You are welcome, it was much cooler before it became part of FORDPASS. It was done by a private guy who had a huge Reddit thread. You could start/stop, lock/unlock, locate your vehicle and about 4 other functions. You could set it up so it worked with the phone locked so you could unlock it with your hands full. Now there isn’t even an option to stop it. You either have to wait for whatever time you set or have the key handy.
Maybe they will update it at some point. Mostly I would like to unlock my truck without unlocking my phone first.

Did they show you any paperwork? I know my 17' F150 when the battery was like 7 years old it would do the same thing you are saying, new battery and it all went away. Todays car batteries are good for 6 months to 7 years it seems. I would be surprised if they even fully charged it on the bench and properly load tested it. It is the only proper way to do it. My opinion of course but in my experience it has been the only way to make sure. Good luck! Hope you get it figured out.

I have had Ford test several batteries as part of the works oil change. It took them less than 5 minutes to tell me I needed a new battery. Funny when I had a battery that would not start my under warranty 2020 Edge they had to test it for several hours if Ford was paying for it. Two different standards for replacing defective battery.
