I heard from a reliable source today that the Ford stock Lug Nuts can swell up causing the nut to be difficult to remove. Seems the aluminum cap fused to the hex creates the issue.
Ford has an active lawsuit that has been on going for quite some time now with any resolution.
I plan to change mine out sometime in the near future.
Looking for an good replacement. Not sure if I will stick with chrome or switch to black.

I thought Costco was trying to enhancing profitability when the manager called me and told me my lug nuts had to be replaced. I had never heard of it.
I clicked on the https://www.fordproblems.com/swollen-lug-nuts/ link and it states that the lawsuit was settled because no plaintiff actually filed a warranty claim with Ford so the judge threw out the lawsuit.

I took the truck in for a 7k balance and rotate and the manager showed me a sample of a swollen lug nut they remove from a different Ford.
I also had no idea. I did research the law suit and came up with same dismissal.
Not sure if this is just common to Ford's or other manufacturers as well.
His was just an FYI for future consideration.

I think it's just a ford thing. My 2017 FoST had the same problem and I was unaware of it back then. Once I bought the truck I knew replacing the lug nuts was #1 priority before i got stranded with a socket that didn't fit.

Yea, you would think Ford would have discontinued these when the problem first reared it's ugly head.

Jeep has the same capped lugnuts. They are the first upgrade any of my Jeeps or Fords get.

I first experienced it on my 2011 Fiesta and couldn’t believe it either. Since then I changed out my F-150 and RR to black gorilla lugnuts.
