Put money down on a new in stock ranger raptor. Going through the photos it was discovered that the factory installed the lariat back seat and not the Raptor! I went through the photos multiple times and never noticed so it does not look egregious. What is the conventional wisdom here? Called Ford and they said it's on the dealer to initiate a misbuild but dealer said they called Ford and Ford said it's on the dealer to pay for it which is disappointing since its Ford's mistake. What amount off would be worth it or is this something to worry about since it was missed by the factory and who knows if they missed something worse.

This should be a cut and dry warranty issue. I fail to see why the dealership should be on the hook for this. I would insist on the seats being replaced. I might also consider walking away from the deal.
Who knows what else they got wrong on the build.

Odd, I had a SC '19 so while the brochures I saved shows back seat on the CC Lariat, unless there was some obvious red trim missing or some other anomaly or differing functionality I would probably not have noticed. And the less red trim the better I'd try to get money out of them and leave it be.

Id probably walk away from it. Not from fear of "what else is wrong" but just because getting it sorted and most likely a long wait for parts is gonna be a mess. You can still find Raptors on lots, so Id just walk.

I agree. This is a manufacturing miss and Ford should make good on it. Back in 2017 when I purchased my F-150 Raptor, another Raptor on the lot had an incorrect door panel installed and the dealership had ordered a replacement from Ford at Ford's expense. I remember the sales manager saying it unfortunately happens all the time. I guess the QA folks at the end of the line are not so good at paying attention to detail. Either way, I would not accept delivery of a Raptor with non-Raptor seats. Ford needs to send replacements or I would walk away.

This is actually sort of funny because when the trucks first started going out this year, a member on this forum posted that their Lariat/XLT (can't remember) had gotten a raptor backseat instead of the normal seat.

I think a member on an old thread mentioned they got the wrong rear seats, too. Not sure if they accepted delivery or....?
I guess I would have them try to order the seat and replace at no charge to you. The factory, shipper, dealer (PDI) all should have caught this, IMO.

I think I joked months ago about a 2.3L Ranger buyer getting a raptor rear seat..... suggested maybe the Ranger got the 3.0L twin turbo, too?

Would it affect resale value? Yes. How much? IDK
I doubt they would do $5K. They might fix it and sell it for $5K over if you were to bail.

Just let them fix it.
I had a door panel, shift knob and steering with contact cement on them from the factory.
Took a while for the parts to come in but the dealer took care of it.
I didn't ask for or want a discount, I just wanted it fixed and it was.

Dealer won't agree to that, there is $2,000 markup on a RR with a bit more for holdback.

I'm saying between invoice and MSRP is $2,000, I'm not talking addendum. There is not $5k in a RR.
