Good question. There seems to be a very limited number of Rangers at every dealership. Maybe that's why there isn't any advertising.

Maybe during the next "Ford Truck Month" sale, the Ranger gets some attention. I went to my local Ford dealer to see an Azure RR. Whoa! Last time I was there, no Broncos, a few F150s and SD's, and no Rangers. Now, these vehicles are all over the lot. Stocking up for the Ford Truck Month this coming Feb or Mar?

I honestly think its because Ford doesn't really want to convince the F-150 buyers that they should buy a Ranger instead. They like to tout how the F150 has been a best seller in the segment, and any converted sales to the Ranger would put that in jeopardy. But the argument could be made that an F-150 buyer is different from the Ranger buyers due to capabilities and the stigma about not having a full-sized truck (i.e. ego). The mid-sized trucks have been a "lifestyle" vehicle for a while now and I'm sure someone had a Lean Six Sigma project that indicated that increased advertising did not have a statistically significant effect on sales numbers. Or at least not enough to offset the cost of the advertising

To echo everyone else, Ford doesn't want to take sales from F series. I haven't driven the Frontier but checked out everyone else and find the Ranger to be the most well put together truck on the market. It will never surpass Tacoma (just from a numbers standpoint, Tacoma has 2 factories, Ranger shares it's factory with Bronco). I think Ford is okay with it too, there isn't as much margin in the Ranger as a F series truck. All about dem dollar bills!

I really do not see much TV ads anymore for most Ford or other make vehicles save Toyota ads which are everywhere.

I think supply and demand adjusts the advertising budget. Ford hit the mark on the Ranger (and Maverick) where the waiting list was months and months and we waited. My 2021 Ranger never arrived so I settled for a 2020 they had at the dealer. I waited 6 months for my 2024 Ranger. Why should Ford pay for ads when Ford is selling all they make. As for taking F150 coustomers away, most that I have read said it tapped into a market that were not truck people. Also "Ford Authority" site just sent out a link for a Ranger Super Duty:

As a guy in marketing, if your word of mouth is already selling every single unit you can make, it's a waste of money to spend anything on advertising.

Once they get to the point where they have extra capacity for manufacturing or sales slow, I'm sure they'll begin doing more to grow sales via advertising.

As far as marketing goes, they've done a solid job generating press for the Ranger via Raptor press pieces and getting all the right journalists out in 2.3L XLTs and Lariats earlier in the year and the recent rounds with the 2.7Ls.
