Hi. What is the best way to really deep clean the gap area between tailgate and bed? High pressure is probably not recommended I can’t find any posts on this.

thanks!

I have solved that problem by installing a soft rubber tube that is used as insulation on water pipes. I cut it to length and then gently push it in the space between the cab and box. I remove it when I wash the vehicle. Make sure you get the softest material and not the harder pipe insulation.
I got tired of using a long nozzle on a shop vac to suck up the leaves and pine needles that fell in there. Been using this way of sealing the space since my first Ranger in 2019.

Are you talking about when the tailgate is folded down?
Not between the cab and bed?
Photo would be nice if possible.

No I am not.
Sorry, I miss read the original post.
Since 2019's Ranger the area between the cab and bed has been a problem keeping clear of dirt and leaves. Just thought that others are having the same issue.

For the original post -- you can remove the tailgate to clean. I have removed the tailgate several times -- although it was easier with the 2019 as it didn't have the cylinder to slow the opening.

Very clever. Can you share a photo or two? Very curious how that comes together… TY

Here you go. Found this soft foam rubber pipe insulator at Menards. (big box store in the midwest)

The thought that debris/rocks would get in between the crevices of this and grind against my paint would stop me from ever doing this. Looks like a small pebble or stone trap to me.

Well, since I live where there are trees with leaves, fall brings a challenge to keep them out of the space, not to mention the spring when tree seeds fall.
You must live were stones and pebble come from above as I have never had a problem. Yes, it does get removed when the vehicle is washed. The rubber gets a shopvac vacuum also before being reinstalled.

I've never had much problem cleaning there on any truck, and the Ranger is easier than most with it's huge gap...
I use a separate mitt for wheels that never touches my paint, I use that for places like just inside the fenderwell lip and the gap between the tailgate and bed. (I also don't get too picky about that area, it will always be dirty anyway...)

So you're saying there's a height limit to how high a vehicle in front of you can fling a rock into the air, interesting theory.

I'll have to go back to the drawing board on how I got paint chips on my roof, I thought I had it figured out.

I'm confused. You said between the Tailgate and the Bed? Do you mean between the cab and bed?
