I typically do not turn on the AC if I dont have to. In the summer my settings are the coldest ambient air possible without turning on the AC until I cant stand it anymore before turning on the AC.

My Ranger does not operate like this, it WILL turn on the AC in this setting without selecting it via the controls. It will be 80 degrees outside and the air coming through the vents is obviously much colder, in the 60s or so. It will oscillate between AC air and ambient air over the course of maybe every 5 minutes or so.

To me this seems like faulty thermostat issue because it will do this regardless if i set the temperature to 60 degrees all the way up to 75 degrees. But repairing this is outside of my area of expertise. What is the issue I need to address, either repair it myself or take it to a dealer?

Oh boy.

Is it time for a lesson as to why public [government] services are always the least efficient, lowest quality, and and why personal property management is the most efficient?

government project management: it is not your personal money, it is not to your personal benefit. they care the least about the cost/value/quality because they are the least affected

personal project management: your personal money, your personal benefit. you care the most about the cost/value/quality. you care the most because you are most affected.

FWIW I often switch the compressor off when nearing my destination to help dry the evaporator to prevent odors. All throughout my first few months of ownership it would still remain off when I restarted the truck hours or days later, and I would have to switch it back on. This past weekend however, I noticed it turned itself back on after a remote restart. I am not sure if it's because we are now in our summertime 100 degree temps, or if it was an OTA update. I'm also not sure if it happens both on remote start and manual start but I will be checking. My truck is not a daily driver so it may take some time to figure it out.

Actually I don't mind that it turns the compressor on automatically after restarting since I would be doing it anyway, but when I switch it off to dry the evaporator I don't want it coming back on before I park and shut down.

This is due to the humidity control programmed into the HVAC system. It can be turned off using ForScan. The humidity sensor on the dash near the windshield needs to be programmed as not existing, thereby preventing the HVAC from turning the compressor on.

I think you can code this via Forscan.

Check the thread about the coding list verified. It should be there.

Something like "not turn on AC when automatic climate"

AC Is always on, regardless of temperature set, even in dead of winter when it's 20 outside and heater is set to 72. As stated, it's to control humidity.
If you don't want AC running, just turn off the AC, but it will reset at each start.
As for DIY, I wouldn't advise dicking around with functions on a new vehicle, lest future problems arise and warranty is voided.

Warranty is voided with Forscan? Pretty sure it's not an issue if you don't cause an issue related to a mistake.

Anyway AC always turn on when you turn on the automatic climate ctrl (start of the truck or enabling hvac).

Forscan changes this

Probably not voided with FORSCAN, unless you do something drastic and brick the system.
But it sounded like OP wanted do more than just that.
