So, I’ve never owned a Ranger. All I’ve known is Toyota 2nd and 3rd Generation’s.
I really like the 2025-26 Ranger FX4 OFF ROAD 300A package.

My question is, what do I need to watch out for concerning the new Generation Ranger? Reliability? Maintenance? Etc…

thanks guys I can use all the help..

nothing. just keep up on the fluid changes and normal stuff like that. the battery going low will cause check lights so if it sits without being started for to long, it will give you a check light but its from the battery losing charge.

i guess you got an xlt?

I had a 5th gen starting in 2021, and now a 6th gen ranger. Other than a few minor recalls on both, I've had no reliability or drivability issues with either. I think Ford may have a worse rap than they deserve for recalls. They tend to be proactive instead of reactive.

My 5th gen had 40k on it when I traded for the 6th, which now has 20k.

Not yet, I’m in the process of researching at this point and possibly in a month or two, pull the trigger on a FX4 Off Road Crew cab XLT with New 2.3L.

Also I’m just seeing what new colors Ford will come out with for 2026 and if there’s any changes with the new already done we’ll 2025 2.3L.

nice. my father in law got a 25 xlt fx4 with the new 2.3. he really likes it. compared to my 2.3 with a tune on it, it feels very similar, power wise. if they offer a tune for the new 2.3, its going to be lots of fun and still get good gas mileage.

There seems to be some pretty good deals on '25s now that the '26s are about to launch there are lots of FX4 XLTs around be being advertised well below MSRP.

The '26 Build and Price is live. It should show all the colors for '26.

I started with a 2018 Tacoma, not sure which Gen that was. In 2020 I started with a Gen13 F150 and I’m currently on a GEN 14 F150. My wife went to a GEN 5 ranger in 2023, and she’s now in a GEN six 2025. Through all of these, we have had no issues with anything. I don’t have longevity to speak of, but I can tell you I have no desire to go to any other dealer than the Ford dealer I go to. That’s my two pesos worth, so good luck in finding the right Ford for you!

Only major changes for 2026 XLT are - adding avalanche gray and an optional power moonroof if you so desire.

On a different note, if you are a locker guy and want a button to push for the rear locker, careful with the FX4 package as there might not be a dedicated/separate locker button. The FX4 locker seems to be associated with a drive mode and you may or may not be interested.

Is this true? That would suck. My XL has the $420 locker option and it’s just a button. If the FX4 ties the locker to a mode, that’s pretty lame.

FX4 has a locker button, but as you mentioned it's not physical. There's a touch screen button.
