The more inclement the weather becomes, the more I like it: I wrote this for another thread and I think is sums up my thoughts:

I've had my 2024 RR since the middle of December 2024 and I haven't found a road condition that I can't enjoy driving it in/on yet. From hooning it around on snow covered roads to zipping along any and all dirt roads I can find to playing road rally on dry or wet twisty back roads and even to the 70+ mile highway commute to work, it's a terrific "compromise" that allows for enjoyable antics on all of the above. Even been good when moving and having it packed to the gills with all my junk.
I really like the way it looks, rugged and sporty (for a pickup) at the same time, more than adequate giddyup even without the power upgrade, not a bad exhaust note (for a V6), a suspension that deals with almost anything I can find to ride over, ability to do some decent rock crawling and baja-wannabe blasting around, comfortable seats, good driving position, hugely helpful front/rear/side view cameras. I am really, really happy with it.
As I've said before, the only way I could like it any better is if it had a Coyote 5.0 - mostly for the V8 sound; ventilated seats for the summer - just hate sweating just to sweat in Jersey summers; and dual valve shocks - although this one is more for the idea as it's pretty darn good now with just control on the compression side. Always been a sports car guy and this thing strikes me as the ordinary guy's street version of a cross between a trophy truck and a rally car.

I think this sums it up pretty well.

This isn't a race truck. It's a mid-size truck with some cosmetic goodies to make it look like something it isn't. It's a fun toy, that's all.
Lol! I think you need another Telsa! The RR is pretty damn close to a factory race truck. I think you are confusing it with Toyota's TRD Pro offerings. You know other than safety stuff and adjustable coil overs/ 35 tires the race trucks at Finke and Baja are stock otherwise. The pre runner trucks over at Finke in Australia are stock Ranger Raptors.

What is it supposed to be? It's built to run fast off road and still have good road manners. For a stock midsize pickup it can't be beat in my opinion.

I’ve only had mine for a week and I came from an Unleashed tuned 19 2.3 Lariat Ranger that ran great!! I think I was expecting mind blowing acceleration…and it is good but I wasn’t mind blown (that’s on me). I just uploaded an Unleashed Tune yesterday and I’m sure that will pep it up more (haven’t driven it much since). But so far I really like the RR it’s more comfortable and rides better than my 19 and feels roomier, it looks great, quiet inside and the MPG’s in the first week are what I expected. So far, so good!

ok. Glad you like it. I like mine too, but 99% of these will never put a tire on dirt. They're toys for most of us and that's ok.

I love my Tesla. 0-60 in 3 seconds and probably the most versatile vehicle I've owned (I've had north of 50 vehicles at this point). Not for everybody, but super fun for me!

"Race truck" is a laugh. Anyone who has taken these off road at speed will tell you the drivetrain and front end components are NOT built for anything but getting groceries. It's a cool toy, that's about it.

Your first paragraph is telling as is your second. Why did you get the RR? Just curious.

Did you attend the Raptor Assault course? If you did, your statement is surprising.

Actually, they raced it in the Baja1000 with stock drivetrain. Stock Fox live susp, stock 10sp tranny, and stock 3.0 engine (only race safety equipment was added).

(info starts at 20seconds).

Wow! I beg to differ and I've had a lifetime of high performance cars and trucks.

I think you have both extremes with the "race truck" arguments, objectively speaking the Ranger Raptor doesn't have half the travel of a real baja truck (~10" Raptor vs ~20" Baja) and that's okay. If it did you'd have massive compromises in ride and handling on pavement and an F450 track width (96" dually vs ~90" for baja).

I think most RR owners are going to brag about them. Having owned a 24 RR, lot of things that did not impress me, and way more issues than it was worth. Honestly, I think the truck (Ranger) as a whole is a great vehicle. I prefer my FX4 wit the 2.7 over my RR for a lot of reasons. But the RR was indeed cool if nothing else.

Everybody loves what they have until they don't. No one is going to admit they made a $62K mistake.
