Has anyone done their J brace install through dealer? What have you paid?

went in to talk to my local dealer and they said they hadn’t done one yet. And quoted 4 hours of labor. Also mentioned that they would need to take the bed OFF…

Any official documentation i can show them that that is not the case? Seems wild to me.

Taking the bed off is definitely not required from what I've read from post/threads on this forum and internet searches. Members of this forum have done it themselves. Theirs several youtube videos of the process. 4 hours might be a little much, can't say, I dont even have the truck yet

exactly what i thought..

I’d be curious to see what others have paid through their local dealers though

I paid for dealer installation when I bought the braces through Ford Accessories. My dealership honored the pricing without question. No documentation because no additional invoice was generated.

There is no reason the bed would have to be removed other than to pad labor.

I just clicked on Ford.com and when I clicked the link, I got a 404 error...comunication problem...but
Ford.com, click shop, click accessories, bed products and then J Brace for Raptor/Non Raptor model
$169 and I believe it was $229 for install - which would/shoud be a couple of hours labor. That should lock in the price for out the door plus sales tax at a Ford dealer.
Do "not' have to take the bed off.

Fords own website lets you pre-purchase the install for $192
And the instructions that come with the kit clearly indicate the bed does NOT need to come off
If I were you, I’d find someone other than your dealer to do the install - they don’t appear to have a clue what they are talking about

exactly.. I’m thinking they just haven’t done one yet so they are clueless.
unfortunately when i try to even order parts to a dealer my local dealer isn’t apart of that “network” so that isn’t an option to order it from the website to my dealer.
Only reason I’d prefer to go dealer route is because of any potential “warranty” issues down the road.

Are there any other Ford dealerships within acceptable distance from you?

I would agree with others, find another dealer somewhere close to you. The only other thing is seems like from other post/threads on this forum, the parts are not available, backordered. But think i read some ordered from out of country and received them.

I was so pissed at Ford for making me have to buy parts to make my truck "Ford Tough", that I went to my local trusted mechanic instead of giving Ford any more money and he installed it less than 2 hours. $120.00 and they thanked me for coming to them with a new vehicle, as they get tired of working on old ones. lol

SIde Note: if you want the Ford Pass points for the brace, do not call your local dealers parts shop and order them yourself that way. I did and lost out of the Ford Pass points. They said at the shop desk to order through the Ford pass website or through your dealers service center, and you'll get the points.

I boughtvthem with my points, and after waiting 6 weeks for them to come in, I paid the dealer $330. Exactly what the first guy that i saw in the first thread of this subject pay. All of them after that paid 300-330. I'm not even putting anything on the top of my bed rails. It's just for peace of mind. Well, worth it to me.

Have not been following the "J brace" issue - are the trucks being built now addressing this problem ?
